At ThisWay Global, we’re not just building software—we’re creating the infrastructure for the next wave of ethical, scalable AI. As a small, fast-moving startup, we thrive on smart collaboration, adaptability, and relentless innovation.
You’ll join a team that’s solving problems at the edge of AI and HPC convergence, where your voice matters and your work is core to our growth. Some days you’ll be designing the next system architecture; others, you’ll be reviewing code, mentoring teammates, or driving strategic technical decisions. The common thread: you’ll make a tangible impact.
If you’re energized by challenges, driven by excellence, and looking for an opportunity where your experience directly shapes the future—this is your moment.
Job Overview
As a Staff Software Engineer, you’ll play a key role in building high-performance, scalable software systems that power our AI and HPC solutions. You’ll collaborate across engineering and product teams to architect robust systems, mentor teammates, and shape technical direction.
We’re looking for a highly accomplished engineer—someone who’s led ambitious projects, tackled systems at scale, and knows how to create leverage through thoughtful architecture and team enablement. Your experience will elevate not only our codebase, but our engineering culture.
Key Responsibilities
Architect, develop, and deploy advanced software systems with an emphasis on performance, scalability, and maintainability.
Lead efforts to solve complex technical challenges across the stack and elevate engineering quality through mentorship and example.
Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code (primarily in Rust) that supports large-scale distributed or parallel systems.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define requirements and build scalable solutions aligned with business strategy.
Troubleshoot, debug, and optimize systems for reliability, speed, and security.
Champion best practices in code quality, documentation, testing, and performance optimization.
Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement through code reviews, technical leadership, and peer mentorship.
Stay ahead of industry trends, frameworks, and tools that drive modern AI and HPC systems forward.
10+ years of software engineering experience, including deep expertise in designing and scaling distributed or parallel systems.
Proven leadership as a senior individual contributor driving end-to-end system design and implementation.
Strong proficiency in Rust, or a deep background in systems programming with a willingness to master Rust quickly.
Experience with parallel programming technologies (e.g., OpenMP, Unified Parallel C, OpenMPI, CUDA).
Excellent debugging and problem-solving skills with a hands-on, ownership-driven mindset.
Effective communicator who can bridge technical and non-technical teams and work independently in a fast-moving R&D environment.
U.S.-based; authorized to work in the United States.
Preferred (Not Required)
Experience in HPC or HTC environments, preferably in a regulated or performance-critical setting.
Familiarity with secure software development practices, ISO 27001, NIST SP 800-171⁄223, and/or Confidential Computing.
Background from a technically elite institution or comparable experience (e.g., Stanford, MIT, CMU, Harvard, top-tier labs).
Passion for technical mentorship and engineering excellence in distributed teams.
Fully remote work environment (some travel may be required for team meetings).
Competitive salary and performance-based incentives.
Equity and long-term growth opportunities.
401K plan.
Health benefits.
Unlimited PTO (requires manager approval).
High-impact role within a startup building mission-critical technology.
