Each country, state, and municipality has its own employment requirements that need to be maintained on an ongoing basis. Those requirements span HR, tax, accounting, and legal which is complicated and requires deep expertise. As a result, keeping up with the differences and the sheer volume of obligations makes hiring people in many locations expensive and painful.

About the role:

As the first design hire, you’ll get to shape the direction of our platform, internal tools and while collaborating closely with product, engineering, and business leaders. You will also have the unique opportunity to create the design function from the ground up, and establish our design strategy, process, and culture for years to come.

You will:

  • Collaborate with the product and engineering teams to define and implement innovative features that directly impact our product’s user experience.

  • Deliver all design specifications and assets to engineering for final execution.

  • Deliver a wide range of artifacts like wireframes, user stories, user flows, process flows, and design prototypes to effectively communicate interaction and design intent.

  • Develop and maintain design systems to ensure consistency across visual elements and user interface across the product.

  • Actively participate in stand-ups, brainstorming sessions, demos and design reviews.

  • Help establish and promote a positive, collaborative, and innovative company culture.

We’re looking for someone with:

  • Minimum of 5 years of work experience in product design role for a digital startup.

  • Extensive experience with interaction design, user-centered design, and design principles.

  • High motivation with the ability to work autonomously without sacrificing collaboration.

  • Ability to bring ideas to life and see them through implementation and delivery

  • Comfort with an iterative design process that includes accepting and acting on feedback.

  • Range to sketch on the whiteboard, on paper, and in design tools such as Sketch, Figma, Adobe, or similar tools.

  • Confidence to communicate and present effectively. Able to articulate design decisions to stakeholders.

  • A portfolio that showcases your ability to create user-centered design solutions.

  • Curiosity to continue learning - if you are someone who loves to constantly learn, lets chat!

  • Experience in designing collaboration software

  • Experience in designing complex data-driven user interfaces

The compensation range for this position is between $150,000 and $180,000 (plus equity) depending on experience.
