Job description

Hi there! Thanks for stopping by 👋

Actively looking for a new opportunity to work on a team focusing on projects with real business impact? Do you thrive in environments where you can help raise the bar for quality, drive collaboration, and mentor others to reach their full potential? If so, you might be in the right place!

Lightspeed is looking for an Intermediate Mobile Product Designer to join our X-Series Mobile Register team. Our retailers rely on the mobile register for their daily checkout and payment needs. In addition to offering the core functionality of a traditional POS, the mobile register provides added flexibility and convenience—ideal for dynamic retail environments where sales may happen outside the store. In this role, you’ll focus on enhancing the mobile experience on iPad using our newly developed mobile design system. You’ll also play a key role in supporting and mentoring other designers in mobile design best practices, while contributing to the evolution of our mobile design library.

The ideal candidate has experience designing iOS applications for iPad, with a strong understanding of native design principles using Apple’s Human Interface Guidelines (HIG), and experience conducting user testing. You excel at identifying opportunities to deliver customer value and thrive in cross-functional collaboration with engineers and product managers to create exceptional user experiences.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Lead the design of the most advanced in-store selling experience on iPad — a native application that empowers retailers with elegant, high-performance workflows at the point of sale.
  • Translate complex, ambiguous problems into simple, delightful product features that deliver real business value.
  • Design clear flows, interfaces, and systems that scale — balancing usability, aesthetics, and performance.
  • Leverage and continuously improve our design system, maintaining consistency across platforms and contributing to its evolution.
  • Use insights from user research, analytics, and cross-team discovery to inform your design decisions.
  • Collaborate closely with product managers, engineers, and other designers to ensure a user-centered approach from concept to launch.

Be a visible design leader — driving clarity, raising quality, and helping shape the design culture within the team and across the organization.

  • Be a positive role model and culture champion within the design team as well as an advocate for design within the Lightspeed organization.

What you need to bring:

  • Hands-on experience designing for mobile and touch-based interfaces, especially on iPad, iPhone and other native platforms.
  • Solid understanding of Apple’s Human Interface Guidelines and Google’s Material Design, and ability to design within those systems while considering platform-specific behaviours and constraints.
  • You are adept at understanding how users interact with native applications and are keen to explore cutting-edge design for future mobile technologies.
  • Fluency with design systems, prototyping, and user research methodologies.
  • Proven ability to apply design principles effectively in either B2B or B2C contexts. You are a proactive learner who continuously refines your design process based on new insights and industry trends.
  • Strong communication skills — you can clearly explain design decisions and bring stakeholders along on the journey.
  • Ability to think strategically about product direction — not just what and how we design, but why.
  • Experience leveraging AI tools to aid in the product design process to deliver better, more user-centered products.
  • Collaborative mindset and experience working closely with product managers and engineers to build user-centered solutions.
  • An acute level of self-awareness and deep empathy - for both the customer and your team’s goals.
  • Comfort with modern design tools like Figma, Google Suite, JIRA, and others.
  • As a global company with employees and clients outside of Quebec, fluency in English as a working language is required for this position.

We know that people are more than what’s on their CV. If you’re unsure that you have the right profile for the role… hit the ‘Apply’ button and give it a try.

What’s in it for you?

You’ll enjoy:

  • A flexible work environment that empowers you to do your best work
  • A culture that celebrates performance
  • The chance to make an impact in a team that’s big enough for career growth, but lean enough to make your voice heard
  • Career-defining opportunities

Plus benefits designed to keep you happy, healthy and fulfilled.

  • Flexible paid time off and remote work policies
  • Equity options, because this is your company too
  • Contributions to your pension plan. Your future matters
  • Training opportunities to grow your skills and career
  • Health and wellness credit so you feel your best
  • Time off to volunteer and give back to your community
  • Interest groups, employee led networks, social committees to sponsored sports teams
  • Enhanced parental leave to support growing families
