Product Manager of Platform & Automation

Storable is looking for a Product Manager - Platform and Automation who will be a key leader responsible for defining, developing, and driving the strategy and roadmap for our core technology platform, including access control, point of sale, e-commerce/rental, and remote automation. This role requires a visionary leader with a strong technical understanding, proven experience in platform product management, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to deliver innovative and scalable solutions. PM will lead all phases of the product lifecycle, from inception to introduction and ongoing management, ensuring the platform meets the evolving needs of our customers and the business. This role will be instrumental in maturing our platform capabilities, fostering innovation, and ensuring that our products and services are built on a strong, reliable, and future-proof foundation.

What You’ll Do:

  • Define and communicate the platform vision and strategy in alignment with the overall business objectives and customer needs. This includes maintaining a clear and comprehensive platform roadmap for the short and long term.
  • Lead all phases of the platform product lifecycle, from conception and development to launch and ongoing management, ensuring successful outcomes.
  • Adopt a “general manager” mindset and drive the business forward.
  • Develop a deep understanding of customer needs, technology solutions, and dependencies to define best-in-class platform experiences, including those in remote automation, surveillance, access control, e-commerce, point of sale, and online rental.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across various functions, including engineering, design, marketing, sales, and business development, to understand key objectives and drive alignment on the platform roadmap and priorities.
  • Lead and mentor a team of product owners and junior product managers focused on specific aspects of the platform, fostering a high-performing and collaborative environment.
  • Understand the competitive landscape and market trends to identify opportunities and ensure our platform remains innovative and differentiated.
  • Represent the customer by building strong relationships, gathering feedback, and bringing the customer’s voice into the platform development process.
  • Make prioritization decisions for platform features and initiatives based on customer needs, business value, technical feasibility, and resource constraints.
  • Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) and objectives and key results (OKRs) to measure the success and efficacy of the platform and ensure alignment with senior leadership.
  • Partner with engineering and data science teams to ensure the platform is delivered with high quality, scalability, and reliability.
  • Drive product requirements based on demands and feedback from multiple channels, converting needs into concrete product phases and actionable deliverables.
  • Engage with internal and external customers to understand their platform needs and remove roadblocks.
  • Evangelize the platform vision and roadmap to internal and external stakeholders to ensure understanding and alignment.
  • Provide input into the overall function’s strategy.
  • Monitor the efficacy of the platform and use customer and business partner feedback to ensure it meets evolving needs, adjusting it over time to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Make decisions related to the implementation of new/updated programs or large-scale platform projects and supporting technical/operational procedures and processes.
  • Identify key partnerships to help drive awareness and differentiate offerings in the marketplace.
  • Work with third parties to assess partnerships and licensing opportunities.

What You’ll Need:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in a technical field (e.g., Computer Science, Engineering) or equivalent practical experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of overall professional experience, with at least 3 years in direct product management experience, ideally focused on platform products.
  • Proven experience overseeing all elements of the product development lifecycle, preferably for complex technology platforms.
  • Strong business and technical acumen with the ability to go from conception to go to market.
  • Demonstrated success in defining and launching successful platform products.
  • Experience working in an Agile development environment.
  • Strong analytical skills and a track record of using qualitative and quantitative data to prioritize and drive decision-making.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills (oral and written), with the ability to effectively communicate with technical and non-technical audiences, including executives.
  • Proven ability to influence and lead cross-functional teams without direct authority.
  • Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate business needs into technical solutions.
  • Experience in managing product roadmaps, prioritizing features, and making strategic trade-offs.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Preferred Skills:

  • An MBA or a relevant Master’s degree in a technology or data-related field.
  • Work experience in cloud data platforms, data architecture, or related platform technologies.
  • Industry knowledge and expertise in relevant technology domains.
  • Experience with defining platform APIs and developer experiences.
  • Familiarity with security concepts and products relevant to platform security.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, intellectually demanding environment.
  • Experience with OKR management.
