Product Owner - Jira Specialist

πŸ‡²πŸ‡½ Mexico - Remote
πŸš€ ProductπŸ”΅ Mid-level

Job description

We’re looking for a highly organized and detail-oriented Jira Specialist to help us clean up and restructure our Jira backlog, while also supporting our product and leadership teams in implementing scalable agile practices. This role starts as a 4 months project but has the potential to grow into a longer-term hybrid role combining elements of Business Analyst, Scrum Assistant, and Product Owner support.

What You’ll Do

  • Clean & Organize Jira Backlog

    • Audit and restructure existing tickets (epics, stories, bugs, tasks) for clarity, consistency, and relevance.
    • Merge duplicates, archive outdated items, and ensure all backlog items align with agile best practices.
    • Write new tickets and epics based on conversations with the Product Owner and understanding of historical context.
  • Formalize Jira Usage Standards

    • Help define and document standards for Jira ticket creation, formatting, and field usage.
    • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure the backlog supports smooth agile workflows.
  • Scrum & Product Support

    • Join scrum meetings as needed to monitor adherence to Jira ticket standards and provide updates.
    • Act as a second set of eyes for the Product Owner: tracking updates, spotting issues in ticket quality, and escalating gaps.
    • Translate conversations and ideas into actionable user stories or epics.
  • Documentation & Reporting

    • Help maintain high-quality documentation and dashboards within Jira or Confluence.
    • Assist in maintaining Jira data integrity for reporting and planning purposes.

What We’re Looking For

  • 2–4 years of experience working in Agile environments (Scrum preferred)
  • Proven experience writing detailed user stories, epics, and bug tickets
  • Solid working knowledge of Jira Software (Cloud) and backlog grooming best practices
  • Strong written and spoken English level.
  • Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and ask the right questions to move things forward
  • Highly organized, analytical, and proactive, you like fixing messy systems and bringing structure.

Nice-to-Haves

  • Experience supporting Product Owners or participating in PO activities

  • Business Analyst background or experience in early-stage SaaS/startups

  • Familiarity with Jira automations and Confluence documentation

  • Interest in growing into a broader strategic or product-facing role

  • Work remotely Monday - Friday, 40 hours a week (no weekends)

  • Vacation: 10 business days a year

  • Holidays: 5 National Holidays a year

  • Company Holidays: 5 Company Holidays a year (Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve, New Year’s Day, Zipdev Day)

  • Parental Leave

  • Health Care Reimbursement

  • Active Lifestyle Reimbursement

  • Quarterly Home Office Reimbursement

  • Payroll Deduction Purchase Plans

  • Longevity Bonus

  • Continuous Learning Bonus

  • Access to Training and Professional Development Platforms
