Actian is in search of a Senior Consultant who is interested in joining the Actian Professional Services team. The primary focus of this position is to provide the highest quality pre/post-sales technical consulting, and support (technical, operational / production) to a variety of customers using the Actian products in mission-critical settings.

The successful candidate must be able to work independently with minimal supervision, be thorough while being efficient, and contribute to team efforts through collaboration and knowledge sharing. This position requires a seasoned technical person proficient at key concepts of Data Governance and the development lifecycle of Data integration projects.  The candidate must be able to interface with external business users, management, and technical stakeholders to achieve results and meet objectives.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Work on design, implementation, and delivery of complex Data integration and Data Discovery projects for Customers using the Actian Data Integration, Data Discovery & Data Catalog Solutions.
  • Work on use-cases of varied complexity shared by Actian customers to utilize Actian Data Governance solutions and provide the best possible implementation to solve their business requirements.
  • Solve complex integration and analytics problems either alone or in a team. These problems are often related to production issues or outages, and a sense of urgency balanced with diligence is required.
  • Assist Actian customers in their effort to upgrade their version of Actian products to the current enterprise supported version
  • Work with customers and internal teams executing project planning and management processes, design, and design review efforts, and testing activities.
  • Install, configure, test, and troubleshoot computer software, hardware, or network systems or applications necessary to reproduce or analyze the customer’s environment or problems.
  • Maintain current skills related to the use of Actian products and standard industry tools, technologies, and best practices to use in everyday tasks.
  • Create and deliver presentations for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Identifying and capturing lessons learned, best practices, and information gained during the performance of tasks.
  • Create required documentation for activities such as client support, site visits, bug reports, reproducible test cases, and unit test plans
  • Strong desire to mentor others in the Data Integration and Data Governance space, providing technical and business guidance.

Job Qualifications:

  • In depth knowledge with Data Discovery and Data Catalog tools such as Zeenea, Collibra, Alation or others.
  • Knowledge/Experience of Integration tools, such as Informatica, Boomi, Talend, DataConnect, DataFlow or IBM Datastage/Tranformation Extender.
  • Knowledge of (but not limited to): Ingres, Oracle Database, Microsoft SQL Server, Sybase, IBM DB2, MySQL, Informix, Access, Excel, XML, ODBC, ASCII, Python, COM, C, Visual SourceSafe/Git, CVS, REST, GraphQL.
  • Hands-on experience with at least one database server such as Ingres, Oracle Database, Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL or Informix.
  • Knowledge of Business Analytics applications (Tableau, PowerBI), support, and troubleshooting concepts
  • Proficient at designing and implementing solutions of various levels of complexity and integration with other products in a production environment.
  • Experience working with JSON, XML, EDI, and other data formats.
  • Experience with Healthcare data formats (HIPAA, HL7, FHIR) a plus
  • Knowledge of computer networking models, network configuration and diagnostics, and JDBC or .NET environments
  • Experience and knowledge of cloud services such as AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud
  • Good understanding of SQL queries and scripts
  • The ability to work on multiple projects at one time, prioritizing tasks to meet critical and sometimes changing deadlines.
  • Knowledge of security systems, authentication, authorization, and access control systems in operating systems
  • Knowledge of multinational character sets and Unicode Experience in production operations of database or IT related systems
  • Ability to estimate time for Statement of Work proposals.
  • Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills

Education, Experience and Certifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent.
  • Minimum 5-7 years of development experience in Data Integration and Data Governance projects using various Data Integration and Data discovery/catalog tools

Business Travel:

  • Approximately 10-15% travel if required

This position is a United States based position that will require a candidate located in the US. Sponsorship will not be provided for this position.
