ABOUT THE ROLE:

The Senior Business Intelligence Engineer role will require partnering with key internal (intra-team and cross-disciplinary) stakeholders to implement automated reporting deliverables and work with our broader team to contribute to and evolve our automation and reporting services. The ideal candidate will be able to help support the team in development work by unifying multiple data sources and evolving our process to create and maintain reporting and analytical tools. The Senior BI Engineer will be responsible for interacting with internal and external stakeholders to develop products and services focused on data automation. They will ingest data in our database from multiple sources using API calls and ETL tools, manipulate data for reporting using SQL to consolidate dimensions and metrics across tables, link the SQL view to a variety of visualization tools, and customize the reports to meet the customers’ needs. Additionally, the Senior BI Engineer role will require work with Python to automate anomaly detection. Additionally, they will be able to act as a subject matter expert and be a partner to our internal teams.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

  • Partner with cross-functional teams—including client strategy, media, and analytics—to translate business questions into structured reporting solutions
  • Build tools that expand upon automation via DEPT’s existing systems
  • Lead projects and contribute to evolving our reporting processes, working both collaboratively and independently to drive efficiency
  • Build clear, intuitive dashboards and reporting tools using Looker Studio, Google Sheets, and Tableau, tailored to marketing performance metrics
  • Act as a subject matter expert in data visualization best practices, ensuring insights are not just accurate but impactful
  • Develop strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders by delivering consistently valuable, high-quality reporting solutions
  • Contribute to onboarding documentation and refine best practices around report usability and accessibility
  • Add to the company’s knowledge base by creating and sharing case studies, playbooks, and POVs
  • (Optional/Bonus) Develop logic for anomaly detection or lightweight alerting systems using Python

WHAT YOU’LL BRING:

  • Expertise in data visualization tools such as Looker Studio, Google Sheets, and Tableau
  • Advanced experience developing custom SQL to prepare data for reporting and analysis
  • Experience working with Snowflake, BigQuery, MS SQL Server, or other modern data platforms
  • Comfort navigating marketing-related datasets (e.g., paid media, website analytics, CRM)
  • Familiarity with data ingestion tools like Matillion or Fivetran, and secure data handling via S3 or sFTP
  • A collaborative, team-first mindset with a passion for building tools others can use and trust
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and time management skills
  • A strong desire to simplify complexity and improve how teams engage with data
  • 3–5 years of experience in Business Intelligence, Reporting, or Data Analytics roles

  • You will have to communicate with your team members abroad, therefore fluency in English and excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) are a must for this role
