Reporting to the VP of Analytics & Data Science, theStaff Analytics Engineerwill help build the foundation for scalable, reliable, and high-impact advanced analytics at Forma.ai. Working with diverse data from customers across a variety of industries,โฏyouโllโฏbuild and optimize code for big data pipelines, architectures, and data sets.โฏYouโllโฏcollaborate with various stakeholders within the business to scope out areas where the team can bringโฏadditionalโฏvalue, while managing competing priorities.
What you’ll do:
- Build and optimize scalable data pipelines using PySpark and Databricks
- Design and maintain clean, well-structured data models to support analytics and reporting
- Collaborate with Product, Engineering, and Customer Success teams to deliver high-quality, actionable datasets
- Lead technical initiatives to improve data infrastructure, performance, and reliability
- Mentor junior team members and promote best practices in data quality, testing, and governance
- Contribute to long-term data architecture and strategy
What we’re looking for:
Required:
- Minimum 7 years of hands-on experience with Python and SQL in analytics engineering, data engineering, or a closely related field; familiarity with APIs is a strong asset.
- Advanced proficiency in PySpark and/or Databricks, with a deep understanding of performance optimization and modern data lake architectures.
- Strong customer empathy and a passion for building end-to-end, user-facing data products.
- Exceptional communication skills and a collaborative, solution-oriented approach to problem-solving.
- Proven ability to thrive in a detail-driven, cross-functional environment, working closely with Product, Engineering, and Analytics teams.
- Demonstrated enthusiasm for continuous learning and skill development, with a genuine passion for data.
- Interest in exploring and adopting emerging technologies to enhance data ingestion and processing efficiency.
Nice to have:
- Experience with data observability platforms such as Datadog.
- Experience in product analytics, machine learning, or Business Intelligence (BI)
