Job Description
We are seeking a Senior WordPress Developer to join our nearshore development team in Lisboa, Portugal. As a key member of our technical team, you will be responsible for creating and maintaining high-quality WordPress websites and applications for our international clients.
- Design, develop, and maintain custom WordPress themes and plugins
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver innovative web solutions
- Optimize website performance, security, and user experience
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex WordPress issues
- Implement responsive design and ensure cross-browser compatibility
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to best practices documentation
- Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and industry trends
- Mentor junior developers and provide technical guidance
- Communicate effectively with clients and team members across different time zones
Qualifications
- 5+ years of professional experience in WordPress development
- Advanced knowledge of PHP, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
- Proficiency in developing custom WordPress themes and plugins
- Strong understanding of WordPress core, including APIs and hooks
- Experience with version control systems, preferably Git
- Expertise in responsive design and mobile-first development
- Familiarity with MySQL and database optimization techniques
- Knowledge of WordPress security best practices and performance optimization
- Experience with nearshore development processes and cross-cultural communication
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Excellent time management and organizational abilities
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote environment
- Fluency in English; knowledge of Portuguese is a plus
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Web Development, or related field (preferred)
- WordPress certifications (preferred)
