Reservation Management
The Reservation Management team is a full-stack product team that is responsible for building the most delightful traveling products for Guests and Hosts. As soon as a guest makes a booking, our product takes over to ensure guests have a 5 star experience with their Stay, Experience or Service on Airbnb. This includes the Trips Tab where a guest can find their Reservation Details, showing timely check-in instructions, managing co-travelers, getting reminders for upcoming trips etc. Along with that we also work on the Host product to ensure hosts can perform crucial tasks like respond to incoming reservation requests, make special offers, manage upcoming/active reservations and all other reservation management related tasks. The Reservation Management team’s work directly and materially impacts every Airbnb Guest and Host’s journey!
Currently, we are seeking a strong BE engineer who has deep experience owning and improving the backend foundation for a suite of products. The engineer should have a demonstrated ability to set a technical vision for the foundation, while also being experienced in driving product projects, working cross-functionally with Client engineers/PMs/Designers/Data Science. We are a tightly knit team that cares for each other and are looking for candidates that are excited to uplift the team culturally. The Difference You Will Make:
- Set the technical vision and drive improvements for the technical foundation that powers performant and reliable Reservations products.
- Mentor, guide, advocate and support the career growth of individual contributors — both inside and outside your immediate team.
- Write and review technical designs that solve large, open-ended foundational technical problems without clearly-known solutions.
- Collaborate with other engineers and cross-functional partners within our team and our partner engineering teams in the broader company to align on long-term technical solutions.
- Apply critical judgment to data — be it about performance, business metrics, or team processes — and use it to inform your work to improve the team and the product.
- Steer end-to-end product discussions with Product Managers, Design, and UX by engaging early and often to guide teams on the most efficient engineering path.
Your Expertise:
- 9+ years of relevant software development industry experience in a fast-paced tech environment.
- Experience building services that enable high-scale, performant client applications. Bonus for any experience with presentation services using GraphQL.
- Strong coding abilities (Java / Kotlin / Python / Scala/ C++ or equivalent) and experience with architectural patterns of large application-driven products.
- Proactive in identifying gaps and demonstrated expertise with hands-on architecting, building, and maintaining highly available services in a large service-oriented architecture.
- Shipped several large scale projects with multiple dependencies across teams.
- Technical leadership and strong communication skills with ability to lead other experienced engineers.
- Passion for delivering products end-to-end: from ideation through planning and scoping to implementation and experimental A/B testing.
- Ability to mentor and grow more junior engineers
- Nice to have: demonstrated design and UX sensibilities
Your Location:
This position is US - Remote Eligible. The role may include occasional work at an Airbnb office or attendance at offsites, as agreed to with your manager. Our job titles may span more than one career level. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. This role may also be eligible for bonus, equity, benefits, and Employee Travel Credits.
Pay Range
$204,000—$255,000 USD
