Job description

Company Description

At Butterfly Network, we’re leading a digital revolution in medical imaging, transforming an industry that has long relied on bulky, analog systems. With our proprietary Ultrasound-on-Chip™ technology, we’re democratizing healthcare by shifting ultrasound from the expensive, stationary systems of the past to the connected, mobile, and software-enabled platforms of today.  In 2018, we launched the world’s first handheld, whole-body ultrasound, Butterfly iQ – followed by iQ+ in 2020 and iQ3 in 2024, each more powerful than the last.

Our innovation doesn’t stop at hardware. Butterfly combines our advanced device with intelligent software, AI, services, and education to drive adoption of affordable, accessible imaging. Our technology is proving to help clinicians, clinics, and hospitals enhance care, cut costs, and expand imaging access. We’ve been recognized by Prix Galien USA, Fierce 50, TIME’s Best Inventions, Fast Company’s World Changing Ideas, among other awards.

We’re a team of bold thinkers, problem-solvers, and innovators ready to shape the future of medical imaging. Let’s build something extraordinary together!

Job Description

As Strategic Sales Manager, you will own our new-business engine and build lasting, high-impact partnerships with hospitals, health systems and key clinical stakeholders across your defined region. You will align closely with our BDRs, inside-sales and sales-ops colleagues to develop territory strategies, nurture a robust pipeline and close complex deals. Your consultative selling prowess and product knowledge will shine as you run on-site discovery sessions, deliver engaging product demonstrations, and confidently present to C-level executives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Territory Strategy & Execution

    • Define and execute a strategic sales plan for your defined region, targeting new business across hospital systems, private clinics and group purchasing organizations.
    • Build and maintain a robust pipeline of qualified opportunities using Salesforce.com and our prescribed forecasting methodology.
  • Stakeholder Engagement & Relationship Building

    • Identify, engage and influence C-level executives (CEOs, CFOs, CMOs, CIOs) and clinical leaders to secure buy-in for enterprise-level solutions.
    • Cultivate long-term partnerships with decision-makers, clinical champions and procurement teams to ensure stickiness and expansion.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration

    • Partner with BDRs to generate leads, inside-sales for qualification and sales-ops for proposal generation and deal structuring.
    • Work hand-in-hand with our clinical education team to design and deliver on-site workshops, training sessions and peer-to-peer best-practice forums.
  • Product Demonstrations & Workshops

    • Lead compelling on-site and virtual demonstrations of our clinical imaging and software portfolio, tailoring content to each audience’s needs and priorities with support from our clinical education team.
    • Facilitate hands-on workshops with end-users (physicians, sonographers, nurses) to showcase clinical value and drive trial adoption.
  • Prospecting & Pipeline Development

    • Proactively cold-call, network at industry events and leverage account-based marketing campaigns to uncover new opportunities.
    • Qualify and advance prospects through discovery calls, needs analyses and solution presentations.
  • Sales Operations & Reporting

    • Maintain accurate forecasts, activity logs and opportunity records in Salesforce.com; adhere to our standard processes for tracking deals, activities and tasks.
    • Monitor competitive activity and market trends; deliver regular territory business reviews and share insights with senior leadership.

Qualifications

Experience & Track Record

  • 5+ years of B2B sales experience in medical devices, clinical IT or healthcare services—ideally selling imaging or enterprise software into hospitals.
  • Proven history of closing six-figure to mid-seven-figure deals through a consultative, C-level approach.

Regional & Language Skills

  • Fluent in German and English (written & spoken).
  • Deep understanding of the DACH healthcare landscape, key decision-making bodies and reimbursement pathways.

Clinical & Technical Acumen

  • Comfort working alongside clinical teams; able to translate user needs into technical requirements and ROI-driven value propositions.
  • Experience running clinical workshops, hands-on product trials and virtual demos.

Sales & Process Discipline

  • Strong pipeline management skills; disciplined about CRM hygiene and forecasting.
  • Self-starter mentality with the ability to work independently in a home-office environment.

Personal Attributes

  • Excellent communicator and negotiator; confident presenting to executive audiences.
  • Collaborative team player who thrives in a fast-paced, matrixed organization.
  • Willingness to travel up to 50% across the DACH region.

Ideally, you also have these skills/experiences/attributes (but it’s ok if you don’t!):

  • Experience in a fast-paced startup
  • IT, software and/or hospital EMR integration sales experience
  • Salesforce.com experience
  • POCUS/ultrasound knowledge and/or sales experience
