As a Technical Delivery Manager at AKQA, you will be inspired by technology and have a passion for creating innovative solutions. We are looking for an established practitioner of the latest web technologies; building best-in-class applications, serving users on the modern web landscape, whatever that may be.

While there is a lot of crossover in this role with other disciplines such as Project Manager, Scrum Master, and Product Ownership, primarily we are looking for a Technologist with these additional skills.

Located in our office in Paris, you will enjoy working in a team of highly skilled people, all with strong opinions about various technologies, frameworks, and approaches to delivery.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS

  • Support the coordination and delivery of technical projects, from early scoping to final deployment.
  • Collaborate with UX, UI, Creative, and Strategy teams to frame the right solutions to client briefs.
  • Help articulate technical approaches in client-facing documents, pitches, and workshops.
  • Participate in backlog definition, feature scoping, and sprint planning.
  • Contribute to technical implementations (prototyping, component integration, documentation).
  • Contribute to the ideation process and be proactive in proposing technical solutions to needs that other disciplines may not be aware of.
  • Assist with the setup and maintenance of project environments, tools, and CI/CD workflows.
  • Communicate technical progress and risks clearly across teams and to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Work closely with developers to follow up on technical blockers, QA feedback, and delivery milestones.
  • Contribute to technical documentation, process improvement, and quality standards across projects.
  • Learn from senior profiles and gradually take more ownership in defining architecture and delivery plans.

QUALITIES AND CHARACTERISTICS

  • Must be from an engineering or development background.

  • Ability to understand the technical complexities of multi-tiered web solutions and systems integration, their underlying technologies, and the latest technical tools.

  • Strive to learn new skills and stay abreast of technical developments.

  • Sharp attention to detail and a passion for new technology.

  • Professional written and verbal communication skills in English.

  • Skilled in gathering requirements and breaking them down into the technical tasks required to complete a project phase.

  • Ability to plan delivery in iterative sprints, inclusive of quality assurance sign-off in a platform-agnostic environment.

  • Strong understanding of which Agile methodologies suit the needs of the client and projects, and the skill to adapt and formulate Hybrid approaches.

  • Ability to recognize risk and plan to mitigate.

  • Ability to decide the resource profile required for a project and to provide top-down and bottom-up estimates against a scope.

  • Advocate for improvements to processes, quality, and security.

  • Ability to talk about Technology to non-technical audiences (clients, stakeholders, and team members).

  • Champion continuous improvement and best-in-class software development processes.

  • Have Technical knowledge of (mastery not required):

    • Modern cloud infrastructure & deployment: Platforms such as AWS, Azure, and serverless/edge platforms like Vercel
    • CI/CD pipelines: Understanding of deployment automation, quality gates, and Git-based workflows
    • API-first architecture: Solid grasp of RESTful and GraphQL APIs
    • Modern web technologies: Including HTML, CSS, and JavaScript frameworks such as React and Vue.js
    • Headless CMSs: Experience working with leading platforms like Storyblok, Sanity, Contentful, or Strapi
    • Composable commerce & SaaS integration: Familiarity with tools like Shopify, BigCommerce, and Commerce Layer
    • Design systems: Supporting scalable frontend development through Atomic Design principles and tools like Storybook
    • Collaboration tools: Proficiency with Jira, Confluence, and shared documentation workflows
    • Quality assurance & automation: Understanding of testing strategies (unit, integration, visual regression), and how they fit into CI/CD
  • AI-driven experiences: Exposure to Large Language Models (LLMs), especially in applied use cases involving Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG)
