Job description

At AKQA, we believe in the imaginative application of art and science to create beautiful ideas, products and services. With an entrepreneurial and collaborative approach, we design adaptive digital services and applications that capture the imagination, delivering immersive experiences for our clients.

We are looking for an established practitioner of the latest web technologies; building best in class applications, serving users on the modern web landscape, whatever that may be.

Collaborating in a team of highly skilled people, each with strong opinions about various technologies, frameworks and approaches to delivery; you will need to communicate your ideas to your colleagues effectively, and articulate them to other internal stakeholders.

Located in our studio in Paris, you will work within multidisciplinary project teams to build robust digital products that surpass client expectations. You will join a close-knit and high-skilled team and gain hands-on experience as you design, code, test, launch and sustain digital solutions that enable satisfying and seamless experiences for people out there.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS

  • Contribute hands-on with the development of a range of solutions including websites, web apps, CI pipelines, and headless CMS integrations.
  • Define and implement scalable, maintainable front-end architectures using modern frameworks.
  • Work closely with other departments to ensure alignment across disciplines and to resolve day-to-day technical challenges.
  • Collaborate closely with UX, design and creative teams to deliver pixel-perfect interfaces with exceptional animation, motion and rendering performance.
  • Champion modern front-end tooling to improve velocity, code quality and team workflow.
  • Inspire others to form an exemplary technical team by sharing knowledge, mentoring peers, and leading by example.
  • Contribute to technical decision-making for clients by understanding their goals and constraints.
  • Participate in pitches.
  • Provide clear, structured, and elegant technical answers to solve client problems.
  • Stay ahead of emerging technologies and propose ways to integrate innovation meaningfully, especially around AI.

QUALITIES AND CHARACTERISTICS

  • 6+ years of experience in front-end development, including large or complex code bases.
  • Strong proficiency in modern JavaScript/TypeScript and frameworks like React.js and/or Vue.js.
  • Deep understanding of SPA / SSR / Jamstack / ISR paradigms.
  • Mastery of advanced animation techniques (CSS, SVG, GSAP, Framer Motion, canvas…).
  • Committed to performance, code quality, good practice and delivering high end products.
  • Proficient with the GIT and its related tooling (branching flow, CLI commands etc.).
  • Interest in mentoring of the developers (presentations, code-review, pair-programming etc.).
  • Experience working with headless CMS, GraphQL, APIs and modern CI/CD pipelines.
  • Knowledge of design tools such as Sketch or Figma.
  • Familiarity with Agile and Lean methodologies.
  • Exceptional organisational skills and methodical approach.
  • Comfortable with the trade-offs of using different engineering solutions to a problem, favouring pragmatism over idealism.
  • You have a collaborative spirit and you make a point of listening to different perspectives with an open-minded approach.
  • Eager to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Boundlessly creative and relentlessly attentive to detail.
  • You demonstrate awareness and care about analytics and KPIs to improve the interface performance and a high level of accountability through the whole project lifecycle.
  • You will also contribute to the continuous evolution of our front-end stack, shared components, and internal best practices; helping shape the engineering culture of our studio.

AI & Emerging Tech Fluency:

  • Strong interest and fluency in building AI-enhanced front-end experiences.
  • Hands-on experience integrating LLM-based APIs (e.g., OpenAI, Claude, …)
  • Understanding of AI orchestration tools and principles, such as LangChain, LlamaIndex, or similar.
  • Familiarity with Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) architectures.
  • Comfortable exploring how AI-first UX can shape new interfaces and product interactions.

Nice to have:

  • Experience with shadcn/ui, Radix UI and other modern component systems for React.
  • Knowledge of 3D front-end development (Three.js, WebGL, shaders…).
  • Experience building and documenting design systems with Storybook.
  • Familiarity with Cloud-native environments (AWS, Vercel, Azure).
  • Awareness of fullstack development (Node.js, headless CMS) is a strong plus.
  • Experience with CI/CD, unit testing and GitOps workflows.
