The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Technical Program Manager to join our Product & Engineering organization. This role requires a seasoned professional with 6-8 years of technical project management experience who can orchestrate complex software development initiatives across product and engineering teams. The ideal candidate will drive project execution excellence, manage technical dependencies, capacity planning and ensure successful delivery of high-quality software products from planning through deployment.
Key Responsibilities
Lead Technical Project Execution & Delivery
Manage end-to-end delivery of complex software development projects across multiple engineering teams
Develop comprehensive project plans with detailed work breakdown structures, timelines, and resource allocation
Coordinate technical dependencies and integration points between frontend, backend, and infrastructure teams
Facilitate sprint planning, daily standups, and retrospectives across multiple Agile development teams
Monitor project progress and proactively identify and mitigate risks to timeline and quality
Drive Cross-Functional Coordination & Communication
Serve as primary liaison between Product Management, Engineering, Design, QA, and DevOps teams
Translate business requirements into technical project specifications and development tasks
Facilitate technical architecture discussions and ensure alignment on implementation approaches
Coordinate code reviews, testing phases, and deployment activities across development teams
Present project status updates to engineering leadership and executive stakeholders
Optimize Development Processes & Technical Operations
Implement and refine Agile/Scrum methodologies tailored to technical team needs and constraints
Establish project governance frameworks and quality gates for software development lifecycle
Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance team velocity and delivery predictability
Manage technical debt prioritization and coordinate refactoring efforts with feature development
Oversee release planning and coordinate deployment schedules across multiple environments
Ensure Quality Assurance & Risk Management
Collaborate with QA teams to develop comprehensive testing strategies and acceptance criteria
Coordinate integration testing, performance testing, and security validation activities
Manage technical risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies for complex implementations
Ensure compliance with software development best practices and coding standards
Facilitate post-mortem sessions and drive implementation of corrective actions
Qualifications
Technical Project Management Experience & Skills
6-8 years of technical project management experience in software development environments
Proven track record managing complex, multi-team software projects with budgets over $1M
Strong understanding of software development lifecycle, CI/CD pipelines, and modern development practices
Proficiency in project management tools (JIRA, Confluence, Azure DevOps, Gantt charts, resource planning)
Experience with Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban) and scaled frameworks (SAFe, LeSS)
Technical Acumen & Engineering Collaboration
Solid technical background with ability to understand system architecture and technical dependencies
Experience working with engineering teams on cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and microservices architectures
Understanding of software testing methodologies, deployment strategies, and DevOps practices
Ability to facilitate technical discussions and help teams make informed architectural decisions
Knowledge of database systems, API design, and integration patterns
Leadership & Stakeholder Management
Exceptional ability to lead without authority and influence cross-functional technical teams
Experience managing relationships with senior engineering leaders and technical stakeholders
Outstanding facilitation skills for technical planning sessions and architecture reviews
Strong conflict resolution abilities for managing competing technical priorities and resource constraints
Proven track record of building high-performing, collaborative engineering teams
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field
Professional certifications (PMP, CSM, SAFe, or equivalent technical project management credentials)
Previous experience in software product companies or technology consulting environments
Background in specific technology stacks relevant to company platforms and systems
Experience with regulatory compliance requirements in software development (SOC2, GDPR, etc.)
Industry knowledge in regulated sectors (healthcare, financial services, government)
