Optiwatt Utility Sales Director

To achieve this, we are deploying an energy management platform for customers’ homes and EVs that provides personalized, connected customer experiences to lower customer energy costs while providing load flexibility to decarbonize the grid and reduce blackouts. We are a software-focused company seeking a sales leader to join our team and sell Optiwatt’s solution to utilities, directly reducing the CO2 emissions for thousands of electric vehicles and connected devices while making the electric grid more flexible and sustainable.

Who are we looking for?

The ideal candidate will be an experienced, intelligent sales leader with a proven track record of exceeding quota, new business targets, and landing multi-million dollar deals selling large, complex software, SaaS or services sales in the utility industry. This role requires an in-depth understanding of the electric utility market and buying economics (including how both regulated and non-regulated utility models work). Demonstrating specific and current domain expertise, which can be leveraged from day one to quickly build a strong pipeline and to meet sales targets, is a must.

Responsibilities:

  • Developing a robust multi-million dollar pipeline of new deals, prospects, and partners within an assigned territory.
  • Achieve large sales goals through existing client expansions and net new business
  • Identify, reach, and influence key utility decision makers, stakeholders, and industry influencers within your targeted accounts and territory.
  • Collaborate with other members of Optiwatt’s sales, client success, marketing, and product teams to achieve customer objectives and exceed their expectations.
  • Optional: We are open to candidates that can evolve into a sales leadership role after quickly proving themselves as an individual contributor.

Skills and experience are necessary, but we hire on value alignment first, so if you feel you would be a good fit with us, still consider applying.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience selling SaaS, services, or enterprise software, with a track record of exceeding quotas and growing new business.
  • Proven ability to build and manage a full sales pipeline, from outreach to close, including proposal writing, pricing, and contract negotiation.
  • Experience in early-stage startups or launching new products, with a hands-on, entrepreneurial approach to influencing product direction and strategy.
  • Deep understanding of utility programs and load management, including managed EV charging, demand response, and the customer energy experience.
  • Skilled in developing and executing strategic go-to-market and account plans while clearly articulating Optiwatt’s unique value proposition.
  • Comfortable engaging and influencing senior decision-makers and building trusted, long-term client relationships.
  • Willingness to travel 25%+ for conferences, client meetings, and in-person team meetings.
  • Driven to win, with a passion for growth, impact, and advancing the clean energy transition.
