MongoDB seeks a senior individual to act as the VP focused on compliance and trust, representing the office of the CISO and Product organizations in the field. This position requires a combination of strategic vision, exceptional leadership skills and a deep understanding of trust and safety principles in the tech industry.

This person will assist in the evangelizing of our security functionality and compliance posture for MongoDB Atlas and the Developer Data Platform across both commercial, US federal, and international public sector spaces. In this primarily outbound role, they will break down and simplify our security strategy and risk posture into comprehensible terms, evangelize cross-functional solutions, and they will engage, influence, and be able to relate to the C-level suite, executives, and internal pre-sales and engineering teams to drive our more extensive solutions forward.

This role is open to in-office, flexible or remote work in the United States.

Responsibilities Include, but are not limited to:

  • Strategic leadership and policy development - assist in the development and implementation of trust and safety strategies and policies
  • Develop strategic, operational, and tactical recommendations tailored to each customer to improve a customer’s security posture and compliance position
  • Regularly evangelize solutions as one of our progressive thinking technical experts with customers at industry conferences, trade shows, and partners
  • Provide subject matter expertise on MongoDB’s security solutions, services, and capabilities to help customers meet their trust and safety goals
  • Support sales and consulting engagements, drive objectives, and support deliverables
  • Serve as both an external and internal evangelist for MongoDB’s security capabilities and services
  • Stay updated on new security solutions, technologies, tangential team capabilities, and other specific offerings within MongoDB and the security industry
  • Support the development and delivery of Account Executive training, sales collateral, and supporting materials
  • Act as a well-rounded Subject Matter Expert (SME) who has the technical depth to present in front of audiences of all sizes confidently
  • Support strategic sales opportunities with account teams by collaborating with them on internal meetings, joining customer calls, and attending customer-facing meetings
  • Understand and communicate the value proposition of strategic and tactical concepts for complex customer use cases
  • Closely follow industry trends and direction to shape account team priorities
  • Partner with Product Management on customer engagements and product feedback
  • Partner with Product Management and Product Marketing on creating presentation assets for delivery during customer meetings
  • Develop, implement, and manage the organization’s compliance program, ensuring alignment with industry standards and regulatory requirements
  • Lead compliance audits and investigations, preparing detailed reports and recommendations for improvement
  • Collaborate with internal departments, including legal, finance, operations, and human resources, to foster a culture of compliance and ethical business practices
  • Develop and disseminate compliance training and awareness programs to all levels of the organization
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory bodies, customers and oversee all reporting obligations
  • Continuously monitor the regulatory landscape and advise the executive team on potential impact and necessary actions
  • Establish and maintain effective communication channels for employees to report compliance-related concerns and provide guidance on resolving such issues
  • Manage a team of compliance professionals, providing mentorship and professional development
  • Prepare and present regular compliance reports to the executive team and board of directors
  • Develop, implement, and manage a comprehensive organizational Risk management and  compliance program that aligns with industry standards and all relevant regulatory requirements
  • Oversee and ensure adherence to all applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards
  • Lead and manage compliance audits and investigations, including preparing detailed reports and recommendations for improvement
  • Collaborate across departments to establish and maintain a company culture of compliance and ethical business practices

Qualifications

  • 10+ years experience in a customer-facing role developing and explaining strategic and tactical security concepts to customers
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in compliance, legal, or regulatory roles
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements and standards pertaining to Finance, Technology and Federal domains (PCI, FRH, NIST…).
  • Bachelor’s Degree or relevant work experience required
  • 10+  years experience leading or serving as a member of an enterprise security team
  • CISSP or other industry certifications are a plus

  • Deep understanding of the security industry, best practices, emerging technologies, and leading solutions
  • Experience supporting various compliance and regulatory frameworks
  • Complete training (both internal and external) on:
    • New Hire Technical Training (a list of classes offered to MongoDB technical employees)
    • Sales Bootcamp / attending SKO
    • Public Speaking training from our internal experts
    • Product Management training (to be arranged internally)

MongoDB’s base salary range for this role is posted below. Compensation at the time of offer is unique to each candidate and based on a variety of factors such as skill set, experience, qualifications, and work location. Salary is one part of MongoDB’s total compensation and benefits package. Other benefits for eligible employees may include: equity, participation in the employee stock purchase program, flexible paid time off, 20 weeks fully-paid gender-neutral parental leave, fertility and adoption assistance, 401(k) plan, mental health counseling, access to transgender-inclusive health insurance coverage, and health benefits offerings.
