Job Description

About The Position

The KIPP Foundation is seeking to hire an experienced Vice President of Data and Analytics to modernize its data systems and infrastructure to enable centralized processing of core data.  Our goal is to reduce duplication of effort and overall network spend, increase collaboration and opportunities for Foundation to provide data services and products to regions, and ensure that regardless of region size, funding, and staffing, all KIPP leaders have access to the data needed to drive operational excellence and improved outcomes for students.  The goal of this position is to develop and implement data strategies that support the organization’s goals and objectives.   In addition, this staff member will ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations, conduct regular data assessments to identify trends and insights, and collaborate with the programmatic teams to provide tailored data support. They will also interact heavily with KIPP Foundation regions in support of data collection and data analysis efforts. Lastly, this hire will own fostering a culture of data awareness and best practices across the organization.

This is an opportunity to lead a 17-person Data and Analytics team that is charged with high quality data collection, reporting, and analysis for the entire KIPP Network, while working toward making a difference in the lives of students and communities. This position reports directly to the Chief Information Officer.

Responsibilities

  1. Analytics, Insights & Business Intelligence
  • Lead the development and maintenance of robust business intelligence tools, dashboards, and data visualizations to support evidence-based decision-making across the Foundation and KIPP regions.

  • Ensure that key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics are aligned with strategic goals and consistently monitored across teams.

  • Build a Center of Excellence for analytics and insights that supports stakeholders in designing evaluations, generating hypotheses, and interpreting findings.

  • Leverage advanced analytics—including predictive modeling and data segmentation—to surface opportunities for innovation and improvement.

  • Collaborate with senior leaders to identify data questions that unlock strategic value, and translate findings into actionable insights that drive measurable impact.

  1. Data Strategy, Governance & Infrastructure
  • Set and execute a long-term vision for the Foundation’s data and analytics capabilities aligned with organizational priorities and student impact.

  • Lead the modernization of data systems to enable centralized, scalable, and secure infrastructure that reduces duplication and optimizes costs.

  • Establish robust data governance, ensuring high data quality, integrity, and compliance with all relevant data privacy laws (e.g., FERPA, CCPA, GDPR, HIPAA, and applicable state-specific student data protection regulations).

  • Oversee budgeting and resource allocation across the data and analytics function, including vendor and technology investments.

  1. Leadership & Team Management
  • Lead, develop, and manage a 17-person Data & Analytics team across three core functions: Data Management, Reporting & Analysis, and Performance Management.

  • Foster a strong, mission-aligned team culture grounded in collaboration, innovation, and accountability.

  • Provide strategic direction, coaching, and succession planning to managers and staff to ensure high performance and professional growth.

  1. Cross-Functional Partnership & Stakeholder Engagement
  • Serve as a thought partner to programmatic and operational teams across the Foundation and regional KIPP schools, understanding their unique data needs and delivering tailored support.

  • Facilitate data-informed decision-making at all levels by co-designing tools, dashboards, and performance indicators that align with stakeholder goals.

  • Regularly brief the CIO, senior leadership team, and board on strategic insights, system improvements, and key organizational trends.

  1. Insights, Culture, and Innovation
  • Promote a strong internal culture of data fluency through organization-wide training and capacity-building initiatives.

  • Oversee the development of high-impact analyses and reports that surface trends, drive continuous improvement, and influence strategic direction.

  • Stay ahead of industry trends in analytics, AI, and data science, identifying new opportunities to innovate and expand impact through cutting-edge practices.

  • People Management and Development: Effectively ensures strong professional development and coaching for teammates through layers; proficient in the mechanics of succession management and performance management for teammates; able to coach manager of managers; skilled at setting and fostering a positive team culture in which teammates feel ownership and accountability for their own and the broader team’s work and results.

Qualifications

Experience and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Information Technology, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.

  • Minimum of 10-15 years of experience in data and analytics, with at least 7 years in a leadership role.

  • Strong knowledge of data analysis tools and best practices.

  • Experience with data reporting, analysis, and compliance in a complex organizational environment.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with diverse stakeholders.

  • Relevant certifications such as Certified Analytics Professional (CAP) or similar are highly desirable.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop a high-performing team.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proactive and strategic mindset.

Work Conditions

  • Travel requirements: Between 15% - 25%

Location

It is preferred, but not mandatory for this role to be based out of a KIPP Foundation office.  This role also offers the option of working from a remote office full-time.  KIPP Foundation offices are in NYC and Chicago.

Compensation and Benefits.

In compliance with local law, we are disclosing the compensation, or a range thereof, for roles in locations where legally required. Actual salaries will vary based on several factors, including but not limited to external market data, internal equity, and relevant experience. The salary range for this position is $190,000-$227,000. In addition, KIPP Foundation provides a variety of benefits to employees, including:

  • 25 holidays for + 18 days additional flexible PTO days (flexible PTO increases to 23 days for years 3 and 4 and to 28 days for years 5+).

  • 100% paid parental leave

  • 100% coverage of the premium for employee and 75% for employee + family’s medical/dental/vision plans.
