Newsweek is excited to announce a new role, Vice President of Growth Markets. The VP will build and drive Newsweek’s strategy in specific defined growth markets and turn six-figure revenue streams into a double digit million-dollar revenue business in two years. While being relentlessly focused on expanding this business, the right person will also be tirelessly cost-conscious, bringing a start-up mindset that puts a premium on each ROI. This role will report to our Chief Content Officer with direct oversight from the CEO, considering the importance of this investment area. While not directly managing people initially, possessing strong leadership capabilities, communication skills and the ability to influence stakeholders will be essential. The ideal candidate will also bring the mindset of an agile project manager, ready to hand off one successful business after the short-term targets have been met, to take on the next growth opportunity.
Core Responsibilities
- Develop and execute growth strategies by identifying opportunities, setting goals, and creating data-driven plans.
- Lead cross-functional teams, working with the commercial, content, product, and engineering teams to ensure alignment and effective execution.
- Optimize performance by tracking key indicators and making data-driven decisions to improve results.
- Fostering a culture of growth by putting the customer at the center of every conversation and encouraging experimentation, innovation and rapid adoption of new technologies.
- Manage relationships with partners and external stakeholders to deliver the highest possible value for Newsweek
Skills and Experience
- 10+ years of experience in publishing, technology, or content related businesses
- Track record of driving revenue growth while maintaining high margins
- Excellent analytical skills
- A strong background in content creation with a clear understanding of the editorial standards and reputational risks associated with a global media brand
- Leadership experience is a must, including a track record of managing other managers.
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities, along with presentation skills
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
Salary range: $150,000 - $175,000 commensurate with experience
