SUMMARY

The US Army Global Cyber Center (GCC) under Operational and Administrative Control (OPCON/ADCON) to Network Enterprise Technology Command (NETCOM) is responsible to secure, operate, and maintain the Army’s Non-classified Internet Protocol Network (NIPRNet) and Secure Internet Protocol Router Network (SIPRNet) of the DODIN for both CONUS and OCONUS theaters.

A skilled Windows System Administrators to provide comprehensive end-user support across both physical and virtual desktop environments. This role ensures optimal performance, security, and availability of desktop services for local and remote Government Cybersecurity Center (GCC) personnel. The candidate will perform Tier 1 and Tier 2 technical support and contribute to proactive systems monitoring, self-help documentation, and desktop infrastructure enhancements in alignment with cybersecurity and enterprise standards.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

·In this role, the Windows System Administrators is responsible for operating, securing, maintaining, and updating both physical and virtual desktop environments to ensure consistent and reliable end-user computing services. The specialist will troubleshoot and repair desktop issues while also recommending enhancements to improve system performance and sustainability. They will manage essential network services such as DHCP, 802.1x, print services, authentication protocols, and policy enforcement to maintain a secure and standardized desktop infrastructure. Additionally, the specialist will provide Tier 1 and Tier 2 helpdesk support for local and remote GCC personnel, ensuring prompt resolution of technical issues. Responsibilities also include monitoring desktop availability and performance, conducting trend analysis to identify areas for service improvement, and maintaining a self-service knowledge portal with FAQs and user guides to empower the workforce and reduce support demands. Coordination with IT and cybersecurity teams is essential to maintain compliance with enterprise policies and industry best practices.

·BS in IT, Cybersecurity, Data Science, Information Systems, or Computer Science.

Required Skills

·Have a strong background in desktop support and system administration, with proven expertise in managing both physical and virtual desktop infrastructures. Familiarity with enterprise technologies such as Active Directory, DHCP, 802.1x, and group policy management is essential. Candidates must demonstrate proficiency in using helpdesk ticketing systems and remote support tools, along with strong analytical and troubleshooting skills. A customer-focused mindset and the ability to provide clear, effective support to both local and remote users are critical. Prior experience working in Department of Defense (DoD) or federal IT environments is highly desirable

WORKING CONDITIONS

Environmental Conditions

·Contractor site with 0%-10% travel possible. Possible off-hours work to support releases and outages. General office environment. Work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require standing and walking for up to 10% of the time. The working environment is generally favorable. Lighting and temperature are adequate, and there are not hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. Work is generally performed within an office environment, with standard office equipment available.

Strength Demands

·Light – 20 lbs. Maximum lifting with frequent lift/carry up to 10 lbs.  A job is light if less lifting is involved but significant walking/standing is done or if done mostly sitting but requires push/pull on arm or leg controls.
