Job Title: Project Manager (Engineering Focus)
Location: United Kingdom (site-based / hybrid as required)
Contract Type: 12-Month Contract
Rate: £60 per hour
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Project Manager with a strong engineering background to support a portfolio of industrial projects within a leading chemical and process solutions environment. This role will focus on delivering complex engineering projects across manufacturing and industrial operations, ensuring they are completed safely, on time, and within budget.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end delivery of engineering and capital projects, from concept through to commissioning and handover
- Develop and manage detailed project plans, schedules, budgets, and resource allocations
- Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering teams, including mechanical, electrical, and process engineers
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards at all stages of project execution
- Manage contractors, vendors, and third-party suppliers to ensure quality and performance expectations are met
- Identify project risks and implement mitigation strategies to minimise impact
- Provide regular progress updates and reporting to stakeholders and senior leadership
- Oversee procurement activities and ensure alignment with project timelines and cost controls
- Drive continuous improvement in project delivery processes and engineering practices
Key Requirements
- Proven experience as a Project Manager within an engineering, manufacturing, or industrial environment
- Strong technical background in engineering (mechanical, chemical, electrical, or related discipline)
- Demonstrated experience delivering capital or process improvement projects
- Familiarity with industrial plant operations, process systems, or chemical manufacturing environments
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Experience with project management methodologies (e.g., PRINCE2, PMP, or equivalent)
- Proficiency in project planning tools (e.g., MS Project or similar)
Desirable Skills
- Experience working within water treatment, chemical processing, or industrial solutions sectors
- Knowledge of regulatory and compliance standards within UK industrial environments
- Chartered Engineer status or equivalent professional accreditation
- Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies
