About the Role:
Are you driven by the challenge of automating complex, large-scale systems? Do you want to shape the future of IT operations for a global technology leader? Bosch is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Automation Engineer to join our worldwide team.
In this critical role, you will be the architect and driver of automation for our Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) Server and Cloud services. You will develop, implement, and continuously improve automation solutions that ensure the stability, security, and efficiency of our massive infrastructure, impacting thousands of systems across the globe. What Your Mission Will Be:
As an Automation Engineer, you will be at the forefront of our IT evolution, transforming manual processes into resilient, automated workflows.
- Build the Future of Automation: Implement API-driven automations for our global Linux and Cloud service operations, following our strategic Automation Framework and Roadmap.
- Master the Linux Lifecycle: Design and perfect the end-to-end automation for OS installation, hardening, patch management, and upgrades across a vast, large-scale Linux server environment.
- Enhance IT Operations: Drive the continuous improvement of automation for Incident, Problem, Change, and Configuration Management (ITIL), ensuring a stable, secure, and highly efficient service.
- Secure by Design: Champion secure coding practices, maintain and secure our CI/CD pipeline, and proactively address audit findings and IT risks to ensure our infrastructure is compliant and resilient.
- Ensure Rock-Solid Stability: Maintain the high availability of our systems, collaborate with L1/L2 support teams to resolve escalated technical issues, and continuously improve our monitoring capabilities.
- Collaborate and Consult: Act as a subject matter expert, consulting with IT and DevOps teams on security best practices for Linux/Unix systems in both on-premise and cloud environments.
- Drive Cloud Excellence: Perform host management, golden image management, and create purpose-built automations for our cloud platforms.
Qualifications
What You Bring to the Table:
We are looking for a seasoned engineer with a deep passion for Linux, automation, and security.
Core Qualifications:
- Educational Background: A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, or a similar technical discipline.
- Extensive Linux Experience: A minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in Linux server administration and engineering (RHEL, Ubuntu/Debian) within a large-scale environment (10,000+ systems).
- Ansible Expertise: A minimum of 3 years of experience in Ansible script development and in-depth knowledge of the Ansible Automation Platform, including:
- Infrastructure setup and API-driven automation.
- Workflow creation and job scheduling.
- RBAC integration with Identity Management.
- Secrets management with tools like CyberArk or HashiCorp Vault.
- Security Mindset: Comprehensive knowledge of IT security principles and best practices.
- ITIL & Agile Fluency: Solid understanding of DevOps, Agile principles (CI/CD, GitOps), and IT Service Management frameworks based on ITIL.
- Patch Management at Scale: Proven experience with enterprise patch management solutions (e.g., Satellite, SUSE Manager, BigFix).
- Exceptional Communication: Strong communication, coordination, and presentation skills to effectively collaborate with a global, cross-cultural audience and ensure high customer satisfaction.
Bonus Points If You Have Experience With:
- Monitoring systems such as Icinga, Zabbix, or CheckMK.
- Data analytics and visualization tools like Splunk or Power BI.
- Integrating Linux infrastructure with Active Directory and Privilege Access Management (PAM) solutions.
