Job description
The Bankruptcy Paralegal is housed within Celtic Bank’s Special Assets Division and will be primarily responsible for the facilitation and management of the Bank’s Bankruptcy portfolio. The position will work directly with Management to ensure each case is properly maintained and that the Bank’s Creditor position is well-represented, with the goal of maximizing recovery via positive Bankruptcy treatment or collateral resolution. The position requires extensive knowledge of the United States Bankruptcy Code and Bankruptcy Procedures and a working knowledge of Commercial Lending and Securitization of Collateral practices. The ideal candidate must possess strong problem-solving skills and critical thinking, while exhibiting effective communication with stakeholders to properly accomplish the demands of this position.
Responsibilities
Develop and implement Bankruptcy treatment and collateral resolution strategies that are consistent with Bank and Small Business Administration policies
Prepare and file Bankruptcy Proof of Claims
Bankruptcy case management and liaison to Celtic Bank legal counsel
Bankruptcy file onboarding and file management
Scheduled case maintenance and ongoing portfolio management
Facilitate Bankruptcy and Collateral recommendations through written proposals by maintaining structured communication amongst multiple stakeholders
Foreclosure case management and liaison to Celtic Bank’s counsel related to Bankruptcy cases
Prepare and analyze collateral packages to determine recovery estimates
Perform late-stage delinquency responsibilities
Budget management and oversight of expenditures
Order and manage site inspections, appraisals, broker price opinions and foreclosure reports
Small Business Administration related tasks
Routine reports generation and presentation
Bankruptcy Notifications, Mail, and Subpoena management
Other tasks and projects as assigned
2+ years Bankruptcy experience.
2+ years paralegal or legal assistant experience.
Commercial lending/banking experience is preferred.
Two-year or undergraduate degree is preferred.
Detail oriented and possess excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication (verbal and written) skills.
Ability to solve problems and work independently.
Must possess the ability to prioritize and support various activities simultaneously.
Ability to thrive in a deadline-driven environment, including by demonstrating excellent time management, organization, and planning skills.
Strong technical skills - including but not limited to Microsoft Office, Pacer, Lexis Nexis, and SharePoint/OneDrive.
Ability to learn quickly, adapt to new processes, and work in a collaborative environment.

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Mobility: The employee in this position needs to occasionally move between work sites and inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.

Work Model: The employee in this position will work either a fully Onsite or Hybrid work model. All employees, regardless of location, may be required to travel to the Salt Lake City office for mandatory company meetings, events, or related occasions.
