About the role

The Charlotte Tilbury Sustainability team is a newly formed team which sits in our Business Transformation Function. It is the centre of excellence for overseeing and inspiring our Sustainability efforts, educating and partnering across the business to deliver on our Sustainability goals.

As Ethical Trade Manager, you will own one of our key programmes within our Sustainability Strategy driving our Ethical Trade ambitions ensuring we are progressing against our KPI’s and mobilising business initiatives in support of our strategy.

You are an experienced Ethical Trade professional for a leading brand or organisation, with practical experience of Human Rights Due Diligence in supply chains and of supporting internal teams with responsible sourcing practices.

As a Ethical Trade Manager you will

·Management of the Ethical Trade Programme and our approach to responsible sourcing, in line with our overarching Sustainability strategy and to meet stakeholder expectations.

·Lead Supply Chain Human Rights Due Diligence development and implementation including scheduling and managing social audits, building relationships with suppliers, ensuring all supplier sites have completed self-assessment questionnaires, identifying and prioritising audits on a risk basis.  Work with suppliers to ensure sustainable remediation of issues and develop corrective action plans.

·Provide subject matter expertise on Ethical trade, Modern Slavery and Human Rights Due Diligence, requirements (current and emerging) and reporting expectations in regions where the business operates.

·Partner with Procurement, Quality, NPD and other internal business partners on new supplier selection, onboarding, ongoing management and responsible exit.

·Input key findings on Supplier ethical performance into balanced scorecards and provide recommendations and guidance on appropriate next steps. Input and maintain ethical supplier policies, ensuring they are thorough and up to date.

·Work with our commercial teams to ensure that we are aligned with our brand partners and customers contractual expectations in relation to supplier labour standards and monitoring requirements.

·Provide reports on on-site due diligence efforts at Sustainable Business Committee and prepare case studies and supporting inputs for reporting, including preparing the drafts for the Modern Slavery Statement.

· Map Internal and External Stakeholder Expectations regularly. Stay informed of key issues in sector, compliance, market trends and campaigns.  Regularly engage with external stakeholders, e.g. consultants, certification bodies, industry groups, NGOs.

·Manage relationships with third party partners and auditing providers.

·Develop and deliver internal training on Ethical Trade and Modern Slavery to deepen understanding and help teams recognise how it relates to their role.

·Engage with Supply Chain and Commercial teams to build understanding and development of responsible purchasing practices including introduction of KPIs and supplier feedback.

·Identify key areas required for Suppliers to build awareness and knowledge of best practice.  Create a supplier training plan and work with internal teams and where applicable external providers to develop content such as toolkits, webinars and workshops.  Track attendance and collect feedback to assess impact and changes that the training has created.

·Support other Sustainability related tasks such as managing ethical projects, tailoring documents, policies and preparing presentations for committees and vendor summits.

About you

·Experience in an Ethical Trade, Responsible Sourcing or a Supply Chain Social Compliance role.

·SA8000 or similar social auditor trained. In practice application of Human Rights Due Diligence, supplier audits and utilising third-party platforms such as Sedex.

·Experience of investigative social audits and worker engagement activities.

·A good understanding of relevant principles (UNGP, OECD), industry standards and audit methodologies (e.g. ETI Code, Sedex SMETA, amfori BSCI) and preferably also ILO Conventions and Dhaka Principles.

·An understanding of the salient human rights risks in the Cosmetics and Skincare industry.

·A good understanding of current regulations and best practice in Human Rights Due Diligence and expectations of reporting requirements such as the UK Modern Slavery Act.

·An understanding of broader Sustainability and Supply Chain related issues.

·Excellent communication and organisational skills.

·Ability to engage a range of audiences and communicate complex issues in an easy to understand manner.

·Able to travel both in the UK and internationally if required.

·Experience working with NGOs and CSOs to advance changes and improvements for workers.

·Experience with external organisations such as the Ethical Trade Initiative or Fair Labor Association.

·A good understanding of the SDGs and human rights impacts of climate change.

·Skills in other languages.

·Experience of Sustainability reporting requirements and standards e.g. CSRD and CSDDD.

Who you will work with

·Reports to Sustainability Director.

·Partners with Procurement, Legal, Store Design, New Product Development, Quality, Regulatory and Packaging teams.

·Works alongside another Ethical Manager in delivery of Ethical Programme.
