Job Description
WHO WE ARE
Genesis transforms application development in financial markets by offering a low-code platform that supercharges developers and enables organizations to build performant, secure applications with unmatched speed, efficiency and scale.
At Genesis, we place a premium on cultivating and preserving an inclusive and respectful company culture where the foundation of our success is a diverse workforce of individuals with unique perspectives, diverse identities, varied experiences, and a range of cultural backgrounds. We have the vigor and passion of a startup and the skill and experience of a scale-up, consistently refining and exploring ways to make work better for everyone.
To help us achieve our vision of reinventing the way financial markets organizations build software, we are looking for people who aren’t afraid to challenge the status quo - people who are passionate about change.
If you are a self-starter with a solution-orientated mindset, you’ll find a home at Genesis.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
We are growing our DevOps presence in London and looking for an experienced engineer to build our cloud automation capability.
You will work hands-on alongside the Global Head of DevOps, owning technical delivery across the full stack; from infrastructure provisioning to production pipelines, and monolithic applications to containerisation. AWS is the primary platform; GCP experience is an advantage.
The role suits someone who understands CI/CD deeply enough to both design and implement it, and who is comfortable being accountable for the outcome.
All infrastructure defined and managed via Terraform and automation. No exceptions, no click-ops.
You Will Architect and Deliver
- Cloud networking (VPC, subnets, security groups / firewall rules, NAT, load balancing) on AWS and/or GCP
- IAM, service accounts, secrets management, security posture
- CI/CD pipelines — 100% automated build, test, deploy. Zero manual intervention in the delivery path.
- Observability stack: centralised logging, metrics, alerting, SLO/SLI definition
- High availability proven via load testing and failure injection, not assumed
- Environment promotion strategy (dev → staging → production)
You Will Have / Be:
- Deep, hands-on experience with AWS (with GCP experience being a bonus) covering networking, compute, IAM, managed Kubernetes (EKS or GKE), and CI/CD tooling (CodePipeline, Cloud Build, or equivalent)
- Strong Terraform skills - modules, state management, workspaces, CI-driven plan/apply
- Demonstrable experience delivering production Kubernetes platforms on at least one major cloud provider
- Understanding of cloud-native conventions — the delivered system must be immediately recognisable and unsurprising to any competent cloud engineer. No bespoke patterns where standard ones exist.
- Proven ability to own delivery end-to-end, not just execute tickets
- Based in the UK, eligible to work without sponsorship
- Clear written communication and the ability to explain architectural decisions to a technical audience
What You Won’t Need:
- Application development. You are building the platform and pipelines, not the application.
- Prior experience with this specific application. Domain context will be provided.
- Team management. You will be expected to mentor on a one-to-one basis, but you will not carry people management responsibility.
What We Offer
In addition to a competitive salary, we offer:
Annual bonus plan
25 days annual leave
Aviva healthcare
Equity options
Training and well-being allowances
Hybrid working, working 2 days a week from our London office
