The role
As the Engineering Manager for the Shopping Platform team at HelloFresh, you will lead the engineering vision and execution for one of the most critical surfaces in our digital customer experience. Your team owns the platform layer that powers shopping, browsing, and personalization experiences across our global brands.
As we prepare to scale our menu by 10x and more, you will build the backbone for this growth by architecting our core search, personalization, customer targeting, and engagement systems to perform at scale. Above all, we are looking for people who will make HelloFresh better.

What you’ll do
● Lead, inspire and grow a cross-functional team of +8 engineers, while ensuring smooth delivery of new products and continuous improvement of your team’s tech real estate.
● Drive architectural and design decisions in the team, having a strong focus on the highest quality standards, engineering best practices, and operational excellence.
● Ensure close collaboration and joint decision-making between different engineering teams and stakeholders, especially product leads.
● Actively contribute in the hiring and capacity planning process.
● Conduct regular code reviews and mentor engineers.
● Drive a continuous improvement culture and promote HelloFresh DNA.
What you’ll bring
● You have led a cross-functional team in an agile environment (5+ engineers).
● You bring 6+ years of hands-on backend development experience.
● Experience designing and maintaining platforms used by multiple feature teams.
● You have deep experience building scalable microservices and event-driven systems (e.g., Kafka).
● You have experience with DevOps practices and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
● You are an empathetic, strong communicator and active listener.
● You are a self-organized individual, who can operate autonomously.
● You can solve complex problems and remove roadblocks.
● You are a humble leader, who is able to motivate a team and drive them to their highest potential.
