About Index Exchange
We are a global advertising supply-side platform (SSP) that helps media owners get the most out of their content and increase advertising revenue across different screens and ad formats. We also help marketers reach consumers using our ad technology. We started in 2003 as Casale Media and launched the Index Platform in 2011 to make real-time transactions between media owners and marketers easier. In 2015, we officially rebranded as Index Exchange.
Over the years, we have helped shape industry standards, co-authoring OpenRTB specifications in 2011 and OpenRTB 2.6 in 2022. We were early adopters of header bidding and launched the Wrapper in 2016 to improve customer performance. In 2019, we launched IX Labs, our venture arm, and introduced Client Audit Logs to improve transparency. We rebuilt our exchange for omnichannel growth in 2021, and in 2022, we acquired Rivr, a machine learning company. In 2024, Index Marketplaces launched in a closed beta, offering a platform for sell-side decisioning, and we eliminated made-for-advertising (MFA) sites across our exchange. We handle hundreds of billions of requests daily and operate our own infrastructure.
