Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC)

A community development organization that invests capital and provides technical expertise across America.

About Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC)

LISC is a community development organization founded in 1979. We connect local groups with capital and technical expertise to build resilient communities across America. We support under-resourced communities with flexible lending products, grants, and equity investments. Our goal is to close gaps in health, wealth, and opportunity.

Our work covers affordable housing, economic development, digital opportunity, education and child care, health, income and wealth building, safety and justice, small business, sports and youth development, and sustainability. Our investments support economic growth, lowering energy costs for residents and addressing pollution.

Since our founding, we’ve facilitated $35 billion in investments, leading to $93 billion in total development. Over our 45-year history, LISC and its affiliates have invested approximately $32 billion in projects like affordable housing, small businesses, health initiatives, economic mobility programs, community facilities, and public safety. We’re headquartered in New York City and have 37 offices across the country. We partner with 2,400 rural counties in 49 states and Puerto Rico.

We operate with several affiliates—LISC Fund Management, NEF, Broadstreet, and LISC Green, LLC—to bridge the gap between investors and projects in under-resourced communities. Our 2025-2027 Strategic Plan includes investing over $5 billion to support innovation and scale our impact.
