Job Description
The Payroll Master is responsible for the complete payroll processing for employees located in Quebec, British Columbia, the United States and India. This role requires an in-depth knowledge of local and federal laws and regulations, as well as the ability to ensure payroll accuracy and compliance. The Payroll Master works closely with HR and finance teams to ensure efficient and accurate payroll management.
We have moved to a 24 yearly pay period cycle to simplify the payroll process
Key Responsibilities:
Payroll Processing and Accounting:
Manage and coordinate payroll cycles with ADP comprehensive services to ensure accurate and timely payment to all employees.
Perform payroll-related journal entries, reconcile vacation balance with General ledger, and reconcile payroll with general ledger accounts.
RRSP: ensure the appropriate amount of RRSPs are transferred on behalf of employees to Manulife
Regulatory Compliance and Year-End Reporting:
Ensure compliance with local and federal payroll regulations.
Stay updated on changes in payroll laws and regulations and implement necessary adjustments.
Prepare and file year-end summaries as required by law, including annual tax filings and year-end reports.
Coordination with HR and Finance:
Work closely with HR to ensure accurate employee records, including new hires, terminations, and changes in salary or benefits.
Work closely with the finance department to reconcile payroll-related accounts and prepare payroll variance analysis and reconciliation to the general ledger.
Employee / Audit Support:
Validate and process the employee expense reports
Prepare and send communication related to employees regarding payroll
Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll inquiries, providing clear and timely responses.
Prepare and provide payroll records for external auditors.
Address audit findings and implement corrective actions as needed.
Continuous Improvement:
- Identify and implement improvements to streamline payroll processes and enhance the efficiency of payroll processes.
Qualifications
You have 5+ years of experience in payroll management.
You have a payroll certification.
Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and problem solving abilities
You are bilingual (proficient in French and English).
Proficiency with payroll software ( ADP, Surepayroll )
Working conditions:
Contract: Permanent, full time (40h/week)
Working mode: Hybrid (2 days at the office/week)
