Communications Manager

Position Overview

Morreale Communications is seeking a Communications Manager to support various public-sector and healthcare clients through high-quality writing, thoughtful counsel, and strong day-to-day account leadership. This role is responsible for managing communications deliverables across multiple workstreams, maintaining clear and consistent client communication, and ensuring timelines, budgets, and internal coordination stay on track.

The ideal candidate is an excellent writer, an organized project manager, and a confident communicator who can manage details while keeping sight of the larger communications goals.

Key Responsibilities

Client Service & Account Management

  • Serve as a day-to-day client contact, ensuring consistent communication, responsiveness, and follow-through

  • Prepare meeting agendas, document next steps, and maintain clear action-item accountability

  • Coordinate internal teams and external partners to ensure timely completion of deliverables

  • Support senior leadership in managing client expectations and identifying solutions when priorities shift

Writing, Editing & Message Development

  • Draft, edit, and finalize communications materials, including press releases, media statements, talking points, FAQs, newsletters, website copy, social content, stakeholder updates, and internal communications

  • Translate complex topics and public-sector information into clear, accurate, audience-friendly messaging

  • Ensure consistency in tone, style, and brand voice across all communications

  • Maintain high standards for accuracy, clarity, and attention to detail, particularly for public-facing materials

Project Management & Budget Oversight

  • Manage timelines, workflows, approvals, and deliverables for multiple concurrent projects

  • Track project budgets and spending, supporting accurate forecasting and proactive budget management

  • Coordinate with vendors and partners, including estimates, scopes of work, and invoice tracking

  • Identify risks early and elevate issues appropriately with recommended solutions

Communications Planning & Team Collaboration

  • Support the development of strategic communications plans, content calendars, and campaign materials

  • Collaborate closely with colleagues across account teams, creative and clients.

  • Contribute to internal process improvements that strengthen consistency, efficiency, and quality

Qualifications

  • 5-7 years of professional experience in public relations, communications, or related fields

  • Agency experience preferred; experience supporting government or public-sector clients strongly preferred

  • Demonstrated excellence in writing and editing across multiple communications formats

  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and maintaining quality

  • Strong judgment, professionalism, and discretion, especially when working on sensitive topics

  • Experience managing budgets, timelines, and vendor coordination

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office; comfort with project management tools is a plus IE: Asana, MailChimp and Constant Contact.

  • Candidates must possess a current, valid driver’s license as some travel is required for events in the Chicagoland area and downstate.

Compensation

  • Salary range: $70,000–$80,000 commensurate with experience

  • Benefits: include PTO, eligibility for healthcare, vision, dental, life insurance, 401K and profit-sharing.

  • This position will report to the Senior Director of Communications.  This is a hybrid role and will work out of the Rosemont office three days a week.
