We are now expanding our Clinical Documentation Integrity (CDI) services and seeking an experienced, entrepreneurial CDI Specialist to help build and scale this function โ€” including developing and managing an offshore delivery team.

Role Overview

Weโ€™re looking for a Clinical Documentation Integrity Specialist (CDI) with a strong background in clinical documentation improvement, DRG validation, HCC coding, and query compliance.

This role combines hands-on CDI work with strategic leadership, supporting the creation of Neolytixโ€™s CDI Center of Excellence.

Youโ€™ll collaborate closely with healthcare providers, coders, and revenue cycle teams to ensure accurate, compliant, and complete documentation that reflects the patientโ€™s true clinical picture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement CDI standards, policies, and query guidelines aligned with AHIMA and ACDIS best practices.

  • Perform documentation reviews and audits to identify improvement opportunities and clinical validation gaps.

  • Partner with providers and coding teams to ensure proper code assignment, DRG accuracy, and risk adjustment capture.

  • Conduct educational sessions for coders and providers on documentation best practices.

  • Support or lead the setup of a scalable offshore CDI operations team, including workflow design, QA, and KPI tracking.

  • Collaborate with clients on CDI performance reports and provide actionable insights.

  • Stay up to date with CMS, HCC, and payer documentation requirements.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in Clinical Documentation Integrity, Coding, or Clinical Validation.

  • Strong understanding of ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT/HCPCS, HCC, and DRG methodologies.

  • Experience in both inpatient and outpatient CDI environments.

  • Hands-on experience with query writing, provider education, and audit processes.

  • Certifications preferred:

  • AHIMA: CDIP

  • ACDIS: CCDS, CCDS-O

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Prior experience in healthcare BPO/MSO or offshore CDI operations is a plus.

  • Familiarity with EHR/Encoder tools (3M, Optum, Iodine, Epic, etc.) preferred.
