Position- Senior Lead Java Backend Engineer
Role Overview
The selected candidate will be responsible for leading the backend engineering strategy for the Fundmaster Modernization program. The role involves transforming complex legacy capabilities into modern, scalable, resilient, and supportable Java services.
The candidate will be expected to work hands-on across architecture, design, development, testing, deployment, troubleshooting, and production support, while also providing technical direction and mentoring to the engineering team.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the architecture, design, development, testing, deployment, and production support of enterprise-grade Java backend services.
Define and enforce engineering standards around API design, service boundaries, coding practices, secure development, automated testing, logging, exception handling, and operational readiness.
Design and implement appropriate synchronous, asynchronous, and reactive processing patterns based on business requirements.
Conduct and lead architecture reviews and code reviews.
Ensure non-functional requirements related to performance, scalability, reliability, resilience, security, and observability are addressed.
Troubleshoot complex production and application performance issues, including:
Memory leaks
Thread contention
Connection-pool exhaustion
High CPU utilization
API latency
Slow SQL queries
JVM and service scalability issues
Analyze heap dumps, thread dumps, GC logs, JVM metrics, database execution plans, and connection-pool behaviour.
Lead root-cause analysis (RCA) for critical incidents and drive sustainable corrective and preventive actions.
Mentor engineers and provide technical guidance across development and delivery.
Communicate delivery status, technical risks, dependencies, impact, mitigation plans, and key decisions to stakeholders and management.

Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate should be a strong hands-on Senior/Lead Java Engineer who can operate at both the architecture and implementation level.
We are not looking for a purely managerial candidate. The person should be comfortable getting into code, reviewing designs, solving complex Java/JVM/SQL performance problems, troubleshooting production issues, and guiding other engineers.
