Lead and Principal Java Engineer
Location: Remote, USA
Employment type: Contract
Indicative rate: $110–$140/hr
Contract leadership opportunities for senior Java engineers who remain hands-on while guiding architecture and delivery of complex enterprise systems. Assignments may involve modernization, distributed services, cloud-native applications, and high-throughput or mission-critical platforms. Leads partner with engineering and business stakeholders, shape technical direction, and support teams through design, implementation, review, and delivery.

Required qualifications
- Extensive hands-on Java engineering experience
- Experience leading design and implementation of enterprise-scale software
- Strong experience with Spring Boot and microservices architecture
- Experience designing scalable, secure, and maintainable APIs or services
- Ability to make and communicate architectural and technical decisions
- Experience mentoring or guiding engineers or delivery teams
- Experience with code reviews, testing, and production-quality engineering practices
- Ability to collaborate with product, business, and engineering stakeholders
Preferred qualifications
- Experience with AWS, ECS/EKS, Lambda, or other cloud services
- Experience with Kafka, messaging, or event-driven systems
- Experience with CI/CD and DevOps practices
- Experience modernizing large-scale enterprise applications
