The Role
At Plan A, you’ll be working with hundreds of companies to successfully manage their net zero journey and ESG reporting. We are looking for a curious and driven team member to help our Sustainability Team scale Plan A’s software features, while keeping a close eye on the latest developments in carbon accounting and decarbonisation. We are looking for someone to:
Conduct GHG accounting with special attention to Corporate Carbon Accounting
Perform data management and analysis: primary or secondary activity and conversion factor data; scoping of (organisational and operational) boundaries
Work closely with product/engineering teams to support the development of our Carbon Management, Decarbonisation and ESG Reporting software
Create educational materials and toolkits on emission scopes and categories
Support co-creation of software development projects with clients across industries (e.g. financial institutions, apparel) and conduct research, data collection and analysis
Communicate methods, results and strategies to clients through reports and presentations
You hold a university degree and/or other equivalent training in a relevant field, preferably in environmental sciences, environmental engineering or other relevant technical background
You have 3-4 years of working experience in a relevant field: technical implementation of carbon accounting; corporate sustainability, consulting, academia
You have demonstrated experience in carbon accounting, specifically with the GHG Protocol Corporate Standard, and the Value Chain (Scope 3) Standard
You have demonstrated experience in data management and proficiency in Excel or similar spreadsheet tools
You have existing knowledge of the science of Life Cycle Assessment (LCA)
You are familiar with the structure, and use of databases and tools including EcoInvent, OpenLCA, Climatiq, Exiobase
You have a strong command of the English language. You are able to communicate complicated technical topics both internally and to clients or other external stakeholders verbally and in a written form
You have an understanding of the multiple dimensions of diversity and the ability to work with people from different backgrounds
What makes you stand out (optional)
Experience collaborating with large enterprise organisations
Hands-on work in decarbonisation projects, particularly aligned with the Science Based Targets (SBTi) framework
Proficiency in data tools such as Python, SQL, Tableau, or comparable analytics platforms
Experience designing or implementing automated data management processes
Practical experience with openLCA, SimaPro, and Ecoinvent databases
Understanding of supply chain management
Familiarity with reporting frameworks (e.g., GRI, CDP, TCFD)
Sector experience in Fashion, Fleet Management, and/or Financial Institutions
Professional proficiency in German or French; additional languages are a plus
