Project Engineer
Oslo, Norway
We are looking for a Project Engineer and coordinator to take a central role in delivering high quality work within complex, multidisciplinary projects. Based in Oslo, you will work closely with our clients and internal stakeholders. Presence in client’s office will in certain projects be required to ensure strong collaboration and seamless project execution.
In this position, you will be accountable for delivering a defined scope within high-complexity projects. You will work under the direction of a Project Manager or Project Director but will have full responsibility for driving day‑to‑day progress of your assigned work packages. For projects of lower complexity, you may also take on the full Project Manager responsibility.
Your work will span planning, coordination, execution, and monitoring of multidisciplinary tasks while ensuring alignment with Ramboll’s Project Model, quality management frameworks, and HSEQ standards. You will be a key point of contact for clients, partners, and internal teams, ensuring clarity, structure, and progress throughout the project lifecycle.
An important part of your work will also be to drive collaboration not only across internal disciplines, but also across Ramboll’s global project teams, ensuring effective coordination across borders, time zones, and cultures.
Key responsibilities
- Take full day‑to‑day ownership of the assigned scope/work package(s), including definition, work breakdown, resourcing, and detailed schedule.
- Develop and maintain Project Execution Plans and project schedule for your work package(s), aligned to the master project plan.
- Lead cross‑disciplinary teams to execute design, engineering, and/or consulting deliverables; chair regular coordination and progress meetings for your scope.
- Apply Ramboll’s Project Model gates, controls, and reporting cadence (e.g., monthly reporting, risk and change logs, issues registers).
- Manage the budget, cost forecasts, and earned value for your scope; ensure timely invoicing inputs and change order proposals. Support invoicing workflows.
- Lead change management activities for assigned scope, ensuring stakeholder alignment and proper documentation of variations.
- Maintain accurate data in Maconomy and other required systems; proactively identify and drive variations/claims as agreed with the Project Manager/Director.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate scope risks; uphold Ramboll HSEQ requirements and quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) procedures across all deliverables.
- Serve as the primary day‑to‑day contact for client, subconsultants and third parties on your scope; escalate strategic matters to the Project Manager/Director.
- Prepare and present status updates, design reviews, and technical/management reports.
- Drive collaboration across internal disciplines, markets and geographies involved in projects.
- Champion Ramboll’s core PM toolset.
- Coordinate and deliver work in close collaboration with international colleagues, leveraging Ramboll’s global expertise and distributed project models.
- Use digital collaboration platforms effectively to ensure alignment and knowledge‑sharing across global teams
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management or related field.
- 1-5 years of experience in project delivery.
- Proficiency with MS Project or Primavera, SharePoint, MS Office and collaboration tools.
- PMP, Prince2, APM or similar certification is an advantage.
- Excellent communication skills in both Norwegian (written and oral) and English. Norwegian fluency is required due to extensive client interaction and documentation expectations.
- Experience with or openness to using AI‑supported project management and collaboration tools is an advantage.
Competencies
- Commercial understanding of contracts, fees, and change management.
- Strong planning and progress tracking abilities.
- Proactive risk mindset.
- Ability to lead change effectively.
- Clear communicator with strong stakeholder leadership.
- Quality-focused approach to deliverables.
- Collaborative working style across technical and non‑technical teams.
- Strong digital mindset and interest in leveraging AI‑enhanced tools for project planning, risk management, document handling, and reporting.
- Ability to adopt new digital solutions quickly and contribute to continuous improvement of project delivery tools and methods.
