We were founded in Chicago in 1946 by Mr. Alfred Benesch. We are a civil engineering firm that works in various markets, from national infrastructure to local community projects. Engineering News Record consistently ranks us among the Top 500 Design Firms. We provide planning, engineering, and design services to make communities safer, more mobile, and more sustainable.
Our practice areas include Transportation (roadways, bridges, railroads, aviation, and transit), Communities (helping private and public clients develop new spaces), and Environmental & Water (where our scientists, hydrologists, engineers, and planners address complex project needs).
Our services include civil site design and construction administration for schools, hospitals, local agencies, and DOTs; technical design for grade crossing and wayside rail signals; structural design for transportation projects with state and local agencies; aviation project design for pavements, drainage, utilities, lighting, NAVAIDS, security, and fuel facilities; and structural engineering for buildings and bridges. We have offices nationwide.
