We’re seeking an experienced, results-driven Business Development Manager to lead the charge in developing the Transam freight business within our market. This is a rare opportunity to step into a role with warm leads ready to action, inherit a select portfolio of accounts, and—most importantly—spearhead the development of new business opportunities, particularly in the air freight space.
What you will be doing:
You’ll be working in a supportive environment where your commercial expertise, market insight, and customer focus will directly shape our growth. With access to competitive services, a global network, and strong operational backing, you’ll have the tools you need to deliver for your clients and exceed your sales targets.
Business Development
- Identify, develop, and secure new air freight opportunities across our market.
- Leverage a mix of warm leads, referrals, and your own network to build a robust sales pipeline.
- Prepare and deliver tailored proposals, quotations, and service agreements that align with customer requirements.
Market & Strategy
- Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and customer feedback to adjust sales strategies for maximum impact.
- Develop a deep understanding of customer preferences to increase market share and enhance satisfaction.
- Represent the company professionally at client meetings, industry events, and networking functions.
Relationship Management
- Build and maintain long-term, trust-based relationships with clients, agents, and industry stakeholders.
- Visit existing and prospective customers regularly to strengthen connections and uncover new opportunities.
- Maintain effective communication with internal teams, principals, and international partners to ensure seamless service delivery.
Stakeholder & Agency Collaboration
- Engage with domestic and international partners to support the efficient delivery of air freight solutions.
- Lead agency arrangements and stakeholder engagement initiatives to strengthen operational and commercial outcomes.
Reporting & Performance Management
- Manage and report on sales performance, revenue, and margin targets.
- Contribute to budget planning, projections, and forecasting.
- Provide regular insights on customer trends, market developments, and operational challenges.
This is a full-time permanent role based in Auckland. In return we offer a challenging and stimulating environment. You will have the right to live and work in New Zealand at the time of applying. The successful candidate may be subject to undergo a Police Check and/or Pre-Employment Drug Test.
Qualifications
About You:
We’re looking for a commercially sharp, self-motivated sales professional with the drive to build business and the skill to deliver exceptional results. You will have:
- 5+ years’ experience in freight forwarding and/or air freight (preferably both), with a broader understanding of supply chain operations.
- Proven track record in new business development and account management.
- Strong commercial acumen with the ability to create value-added solutions for clients.
- Excellent relationship-building skills, with the confidence to influence and negotiate at all levels.
- The ability to work autonomously while collaborating closely with internal and external stakeholders.
- Knowledge of Pacific Island trade lanes is advantageous (but not essential).
- A full clean NZ Drivers Licence
