Role Overview
The Senior DVM Recruiter is a trusted talent partner responsible for full-cycle recruitment of Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) roles across a multi-hospital portfolio. This role blends strategic sourcing, consultative partnership, and disciplined execution to attract, engage, and hire high-quality veterinarians in a competitive market.
More than a traditional recruiter, this role operates as a service-oriented business partner—collaborating closely with hospital leaders, operations, and People teams to understand workforce needs, advise on market dynamics, and deliver sustainable hiring outcomes aligned with our values and growth goals.
Key Responsibilities
Full-Cycle DVM Recruiting
- Own the end-to-end recruiting lifecycle for DVM roles, including intake, sourcing, screening, interviewing, offer negotiation, and close
- Manage requisitions with urgency, transparency, and accountability from approval through start date
- Partner with hiring leaders to define role requirements, success profiles, and competitive positioning
Strategic Sourcing & Outreach
- Proactively source DVM candidates through multiple channels (direct outreach, referrals, professional networks, conferences, universities, and digital platforms)
- Develop and implement creative sourcing strategies using LinkedIn, veterinary job boards, professional associations, veterinary schools, and passive candidate outreach to build robust talent pipelines.
- Build and maintain long-term candidate pipelines, including passive and early-career veterinarians
- Represent the organization authentically and compellingly in all candidate interactions
- Screen candidates through structured interviews and assessments, evaluating clinical qualifications, cultural impact, and alignment with Veterinary Practice Partners
Service Partnership & Collaboration
- Serve as a trusted advisor to hospital leaders, Practice Managers, Medical Directors, and Operations partners
- Provide market insights on compensation, availability, geography, and candidate expectations
- Collaborate closely with HR, onboarding, People Operations, and leadership to ensure a seamless candidate-to-employee experience
Systems, Data & Process Discipline
- Utilize Greenhouse (ATS) or similar platforms to manage requisitions, candidate pipelines, documentation, and recruiting activity while maintaining accurate records, tracking key recruiting metrics, and ensuring compliance with multi-state employment regulations.
- Maintain accurate, timely data to support reporting on time-to-fill, pipeline health, and hiring outcomes
- Identify opportunities to improve recruiting processes, candidate experience, and partnership effectiveness
Travel & On-Site Engagement
- Travel up to 25% to support hospital visits, recruiting events, career fairs, conferences, and partnership meetings
- Build credibility and relationships through in-person engagement with hospital teams and candidates when needed
Qualifications & Experience
Required
- 5+ years of full-cycle recruiting experience, preferably in healthcare, veterinary, medical, or hard-to-fill professional roles
- Demonstrated success sourcing and closing passive candidates in competitive markets
- Strong consultative skills with the ability to influence without authority
- Exceptional communication, organization, and follow-through
Preferred
- Experience recruiting DVMs, physicians, or other licensed clinical professionals
- Experience using Greenhouse or similar applicant tracking systems
- Familiarity with multi-site or distributed organizations
- Comfort working in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment
Core Competencies
- Full-cycle recruiting ownership
