ORGANIZATION SUMMARY
World Relief is a global Christian humanitarian organization whose mission is to boldly engage the world’s greatest crises in partnership with the church. The organization was founded in the aftermath of World War II to respond to the urgent humanitarian needs of war-torn Europe. Since then, for 80 years, across 100 countries, World Relief has partnered with local churches and communities to build a world where families thrive and communities flourish.
Today, organizational programming focuses on humanitarian and disaster response, community strengthening and resilience, and refugee & immigrant services and advocacy.
POSITION SUMMARY:
This role is responsible for increasing awareness within the refugee and immigrant community to promote program services and mobilizing volunteers to support client needs. This includes creating and distributing educational materials, participating in outreach events, fostering community partnerships, and mobilizing and training volunteers.
Hybrid schedule: 3 days in the office, 2 work from home days
This is a limited-term position funded through a grant agreement until September 30, 2026, and contingent upon funding extension.
ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Education & Outreach 75%
- Promote awareness of the organization’s mission, services, and programs through various channels
- Establish and maintain relationships with community partners, stakeholders, and target audiences
- Develop and distribute educational materials such as brochures, informational flyers, and presentations in person, on-line, and through social media platforms promoting program services.
- Connect refugee and immigrant community members with program services and other community resources.
- Maintain clear communication with Program Manager and other World Relief staff, outside agencies and clients
- Support communications efforts as needed
- Attend staff and joint program meetings
Volunteer Engagement 20%
- Recruit, mobilize and train volunteers to support program clients
- Collaborate with all departments in the coordination and facilitation of volunteer engagement
- Track volunteer engagement metrics in databases
- Coordinate, organize, and track Gift in Kind donations
Administrative and Reporting 5%
- Maintain a database with accurate documentation of volunteer engagement, outreach efforts, donations, and outcomes in Dynamics and shared systems.
- Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned to support the overall mission and goals of World Relief Southern California
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Mature and personal Christian faith
- Committed to the mission, vision, and values of World Relief
- Desire to serve and empower the Church to impact vulnerable communities
- Able to affirm and/or acknowledge World Reliefs Core Beliefs, Statement of Faith, Christian Identity and National Association of Evangelicals’ For the Health of The Nation document
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field, or equivalent combination of education and nonprofit experience.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in community engagement, partnership development, or related nonprofit work.
- Experience organizing donation drives, volunteer initiatives, or community outreach events.
- Strong public speaking and presentation skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and cross-cultural communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and clean driving record.
- Periodic evening and weekend availability required.
- Authorization to work legally in the U.S.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Familiarity with local San Diego -area service providers, community organizations, schools, and faith-based networks.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively across cultural, organizational, and denominational lines.
- Cultural humility and sensitivity working with immigrant and multi-ethnic communities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and CRM tools (e.g., Dynamics).
- Fluency in a second language commonly spoken by refugees in San Diego (e.g., Dari, Pashto, Arabic, Haitian Creole, Ukrainian, or Spanish) is preferred but not required.
$21 - $23 an hour
