Description

The After-Hours Dispatcher is responsible for maintaining smooth and safe fleet operations outside of standard business hours. This role serves as the primary point of contact for drivers, customers, and emergency situations during evenings, weekends, and holidays. The dispatcher ensures timely communication, problem resolution, and customer satisfaction while following company policies and compliance standards.

Key Responsibilities

Driver Support & Communication

  • Act as the main contact for drivers after hours.

  • Respond promptly to driver calls/texts regarding breakdowns, route changes, delays, or emergencies.

  • Provide directions, updates, and guidance to keep freight moving safely and on schedule.

Customer Service

  • Respond to customer calls/emails regarding shipment status and updates.

  • Communicate proactively on delays or service issues with professionalism.

Load & Trip Management

  • Monitor active loads and update tracking systems (TMS, Google Sheets, Excel Sheets, etc.).

  • Re-power loads if necessary by coordinating with available drivers.

  • Ensure accurate and timely documentation of load updates and incident reports.

Freight Booking

  • Actively book freight on leftover or available trucks to maximize fleet utilization.

  • Leverage load boards, broker relationships, or direct customer freight to cover trucks.

  • Negotiate rates and confirm load details within company guidelines.

Problem Solving & Escalation

  • Handle breakdowns, accidents, or compliance issues according to company SOP.

  • Contact roadside assistance, repair vendors, or towing services as needed.

  • Escalate urgent issues to management when required.

Compliance & Safety

  • Verify drivers remain compliant with Hours of Service (HOS) regulations.

  • Maintain accurate records of communications, updates, and incident logs.

  • Support safe driving policies and enforce company standards.

Monday 4 pm EST- 1 am EST - 23:00 - 08:00 Lviv time

Tuesday 4 pm EST- 1 am EST - 23:00 - 08:00 Lviv time

Thursday 4 pm EST- 1 am EST - 23:00 - 08:00 Lviv time

Friday 5 pm EST- 10 pm EST - 00:00 - 05:00 Lviv time

Saturday 7 am- 4 pm EST - 14:00 - 23:00 Lviv time

Requirements

  1. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written (English proficiency required).

  2. Ability to multitask and handle high-pressure situations calmly.

  3. Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.

  4. Previous experience in dispatching, logistics, or customer service is a plus.

  5. Ability to work independently and make decisions during after-hours operations.
