THE POSITION Our roster has an opening with your name on it

As VP of AI Engineering, you will lead FanDuel’s global AI engineering organization and drive technical strategy around enterprise AI capabilities – building high‑impact generative AI, personalization, automation, and recommendation systems that elevate enterprise and customer capability and drive competitive advantage. Partnering with product, data teams, infrastructure, and business teams, you will translate real‑time consumer insights into scalable AI platforms powering next‑generation user experiences.

This role will partner with the functional teams and Corporate Strategy across FanDuel to enable AI change management across the company to identify opportunities around automation, agentic workflows, and driving development of new AI capabilities. There will direct partnership with AI initiatives across the central Data teams, tech transformation teams, and RPA/Automation groups.

In addition, the VP AI Engineering will be responsible to drive automation leveraging AI/GenAI skills in partnership with the corporate RPA Automation team as well as building new product capabilities (prototypes to production) with the internal Tech Transformation Software teams.

In addition to the specific responsibilities outlined above, employees may be required to perform other such duties as assigned by the Company. This ensures operational flexibility and allows the Company to meet evolving business needs.

THE GAME PLAN

  • Define and deliver technical capabilities with a strategic roadmap for AI‑driven systems across FanDuel’s suite (e.g. personalization engines, fraud detection, customer support automation, content generation).
  • Partner with the senior leadership of FanDuel to align enterprise AI strategy and goals and provide technical solutions and capabilities to support
  • Build and scale a multi-disciplinary, globally‑distributed team of engineering managers, AI engineers, ML and data scientist/engineers focused on production AI products and features
  • Set architecture and infrastructure standards for production‑grade AI: MLOps, real‑time inference pipelines, model governance, observability, latency, and resilience while partnering with Data teams
  • Translate business and enterprise requirements into scalable AI infrastructure and pipeline capabilities—in partnership with product and executive teams.
  • Cultivate a performance-oriented culture emphasizing velocity, quality, innovation, and reliability.
  • Increase partnership with Flutter Group international brands AI leadership and teams to create leverage and opportunities

THE STATS

What we’re looking for in our next teammate

  • 10+ years in software engineering/AI, with at least 5+ years in senior leadership roles (Director+ or VP), ideally at high-growth or enterprise companies with transformational AI initiatives.

  • Deep expertise in Generative AI systems architecture, with hands-on experience building and deploying LLM-based applications using modern stack components such as retrieval-augmentation generation, prompt orchestration engines, vector databases, LLMOps frameworks

  • Experience with AWS-native AI services and accelerators, including Bedrock, , SageMaker JumpStart, and containerized deployment via ECS/EKS or Lambda for real-time inference.

  • Demonstrated and proven track record scaling AI engineering teams globally, working cross‑functionally with product, research, operations, and customer success.

  • Strong background in AI infrastructure: distributed systems, pipelines, APIs, security, and compliance.

  • Demonstrated success in AI productivity transformation initiatives, embedding GenAI across developer workflows, enterprise processes

  • Experience with AI‑assisted engineering environments and familiarity with GenAI platforms and tools such as Cursor, Windsurf, Amazon Q, Loveable.dev, or Claude Code.

  • Strong understanding of AI safety, interpretability, and privacy tradeoffs

  • Comfortable in ambiguity—and able to quickly convert ambiguity into concrete deliverables and metrics.

  • Exceptional leadership and communication skills, with ability to represent engineering in executive‑level discussions.

The applicable salary range for this position is $239,000 - $329,000 USD, which is dependent on a variety of factors including relevant experience, location, business needs and market demand. This role may offer the following benefits: medical, vision, and dental insurance; life insurance; disability insurance; a 401(k) matching program; among other employee benefits. This role may also be eligible for short-term or long-term incentive compensation, including, but not limited to, cash bonuses and stock program participation. This role includes paid personal time off and 14 paid company holidays. FanDuel offers paid sick time in accordance with all applicable state and federal laws.
