ShopBack is seeking an AI Systems Engineer to design and implement AI-powered systems that improve product design team efficiency, streamline cross-functional workflows, and enable context-aware content creation. This role will focus on building the infrastructure, tooling, and workflow processes that drive scalable operations.

You’ll be someone who is passionate about design operations, system orchestration, and AI enablement, thrives on solving complex operational challenges and improving how design teams collaborate and deliver. This is an individual contributor role ideal for a strategic thinker and builder with deep experience in scalable tooling, automation, and AI-driven efficiency.

Your Adventure Ahead

Design strategy and ops

  • Partner with product design leaders to understand business objectives and identify opportunities to improve design and content operations through AI and system-level solutions.
  • Develop and execute scalable workflows and automation strategies that reduce manual effort and improve product design team’s efficiency.
  • Drive operational excellence by integrating tools, processes, and metrics that support consistent, high-quality design and content delivery.
  • Set up quality safeguards and governance models for team workflows, ensuring sustainable AI and human collaboration.

AI-powered UX and content workflow design

  • Design and implement AI workflows that reduce friction in collaboration and streamline design delivery across teams.
  • Build and optimise agentic workflows that maintain context across team interactions, ensuring AI systems understand historical context, product guidelines, and user preferences to deliver consistent outputs.
  • Build and maintain reusable system components, templates, and prompt libraries that enable consistent, efficient outputs.

Leadership

  • Define and evolve operational standards, tooling frameworks, and governance for scalable design and content workflows.
  • Champion the adoption of AI tools and operational practices that elevate speed, quality, and consistency.
  • Use experimentation, insights, and analytics to identify automation opportunities and drive continuous improvement.
  • Partner with leadership to prioritise strategic investments in tooling, localisation efficiency, and scalable operations.
  • Seek and integrate feedback from cross-functional stakeholders and teammates to drive alignment and optimise speed and impact.

Essentials to Succeed

  • 5+ years of experience in one or more of the following domains: Design operations, Content systems, Product workflow optimisation and enablement within digital product environments
  • Proficiency in Python or NodeJS, with experience designing and implementing RESTful APIs, webhooks, and third-party service integrations.
  • Strong knowledge of AI tools and concepts, including: Agentic AI and orchestration systems, Prompt engineering and context-aware content generation, Building and deploying autonomous agents that execute multi-step workflows with minimal human input
  • Proven expertise in building scalable systems and processes that enhance team workflows and reduce friction.
  • Passionate about the evolving AI space and actively exploring its applications in product development and operations.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Can demonstrate good judgment in prioritisation and is able to effectively balance high standards against tight timelines.
  • Experience influencing design or content systems at scale, with portfolio or case studies to support your application. – please be sure to include a link to this in your CV.
