Job description
Our Journey
ShopBack started as a spark of inspiration one night in 2014 when Henry and Joel were brainstorming ideas in Henry’s car. That lightbulb moment — earning Cashback while shopping online — was just the beginning. Fueled by the countless possibilities, the team locked themselves in a hotel room for 24 hours to code the very first prototype. Their mission? To revolutionize shopping by helping advertisers market more cost-effectively, while making every purchase more rewarding for shoppers.
Today, ShopBack is the leading shopping, rewards, and payments platform in Asia-Pacific, empowering 45 million shoppers across 12 markets. With 20,000+ partners and over half a million transactions daily, we’re redefining the way the world shops. As we expand globally, we’re looking for adventurous, driven individuals to help us build The World’s Most Rewarding Way to Shop.
We are expanding our regional team with a new Business Development role based in China to lead the acquisition of strategic merchants looking to grow globally.
This is a pure hunter role. You will be responsible for identifying, pitching, and closing new brand partnerships with China-based companies expanding across APAC. The ideal candidate has deep local context, understands the affiliate and ecommerce landscape, and is comfortable owning the full business development cycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and build a pipeline of high-potential China-based brands across key categories (e.g. marketplace, travel, fashion, electronics)
- Develop and execute partnership pitches focused on cross-border growth via ShopBack’s APAC footprint
- Close deals independently and drive onboarding through internal teams
- Collaborate with Regional and Local Commercial teams to ensure commercial alignment and performance tracking
- Represent ShopBack in merchant meetings with senior stakeholders and decision makers
- Future opportunity to own the account management for regional APAC partnerships with China-based merchants (e.g. Trip.com, TikTok, Lazada, Temu)
Key Requirements:
- 5–10 years in Business Development or Sales, with proven track record of acquisition
- Strong knowledge of affiliate marketing, ecommerce, and performance-based partnerships
- Existing network with enterprise level merchants or tech companies is a strong advantage
- Proficiency in English and Mandarin is required to effectively communicate with local stakeholders and internal teams
- Independent, commercially sharp, and able to operate across multiple markets
- Bonus: Experience with cross-border or regional APAC sales
Why Join Us:
This is a high-impact, high-autonomy role where you will help shape the next phase of merchant expansion. You’ll work closely with regional leadership and play a key role in growing China-based companies in some of Asia’s most dynamic ecommerce markets.
