Who we are:
We Are Modernizing Medicine (WAMM)! We’re a team of bright, passionate, and positive problem-solvers on a mission to place doctors and patients at the center of care through an intelligent, specialty-specific cloud platform. Our vision is a world where the software we build increases medical practice success and improves patient outcomes. Founded in 2010 by Daniel Cane and Dr. Michael Sherling, we have grown to over 3400 combined direct and contingent team members serving eleven specialties, and we are just getting started! ModMed is based in Boca Raton, FL, with office locations in Santiago, Chile, Berlin, Germany, Hyderabad, India, and a robust remote workforce with team members across the US.
ModMed is hiring a driven Business Analyst with healthcare regulatory compliance experience to join our Product team. In this role, you will interpret regulatory compliance and quality reporting requirements published by federal, state, and industry regulators (e.g., ONC, CMS, HHS) and translate them into actionable functional and non-functional requirements, Epics, and User Stories. You will work closely with product managers, software engineers, compliance experts, and internal/external stakeholders to ensure our development teams build features that are both certifiable and aligned with regulatory timelines and standards. You will also ensure our EHR products maintain relevant quality measure reporting capabilities and align with the necessary clinical code sets and standards (e.g., USCDI, FHIR, CPT, LOINC, SNOMED, RxNorm) required for ONC Health IT Certification and other federal or state mandates.
This is an exciting opportunity to apply your regulatory and compliance expertise in a fast-paced, agile, and mission-driven environment committed to transforming healthcare through intuitive and interoperable technology.
Your Role:
- Interpret and analyze federal and state healthcare regulations (e.g., 21st Century Cures Act, HTI-1⁄2, CMS ePA Final Rule, TEFCA, MIPS/MVPs).
- Author clear, detailed Epics, Features, and User Stories that reflect regulatory requirements and certification goals.
- Collaborate closely with compliance, product managers, engineers, QA, and UX to ensure development aligns with certification criteria.
- Serve as the point of contact for understanding evolving regulatory requirements and mapping those to system behaviors or data models.
- Own the backlog and prioritize features related to regulatory deliverables, ensuring timely execution against compliance deadlines.
- Participate in internal and external audits, mock attestations, and testing required for certification (e.g., ONC Certification Test Procedures).
- Stay current on health IT policy updates, technical specifications (e.g., USCDI, FHIR, NCPDP SCRIPT), and industry best practices.
Skills & Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree; advanced degree or certifications (e.g., CBAP, CPHIMS, PMI-ACP) a plus.
- 4+ years of experience as a Business Analyst or Product Owner, with at least 2+ years in healthcare regulatory compliance or EHR product development.
- Proven track record translating regulations into system-level requirements and development artifacts.
- Deep understanding of ONC Health IT Certification Program, CMS interoperability and prior authorization rules, and related health IT regulatory frameworks.
- Strong working knowledge of Agile methodologies (Scrum, SAFe preferred); experience writing user stories, acceptance criteria, and maintaining product backlogs.
- Familiarity with healthcare standards and vocabularies (FHIR, CDA, HL7, NCPDP, LOINC, SNOMED CT, RxNorm).
- Excellent communication, documentation, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Preferred Experience
- Direct experience with ONC Certification submission, ACB/AATB processes, or test lab coordination.
- Experience with TEFCA, e-prescribing (EPCS, PDMP, RTPB), and federal incentives programs (e.g., MIPS, QPP).
- Experience working in or with an EHR vendor or healthcare software organization.
