About the Role
MetroSys is seeking a versatile and highly skilled Cloud Engineer to support cloud operations and ongoing infrastructure modernization efforts. This role is Azure-focused, but the ideal candidate will be adaptable across a wide range of cloud platforms, tools, and technologies. You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining secure, scalable, and cost-efficient cloud infrastructure, while collaborating with development and operations teams to ensure high performance and reliability.
This is a fully remote role, offering the flexibility to work from anywhere in the U.S., with the expectation of occasional collaboration across multiple time zones.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, deploy, and maintain cloud infrastructure with a strong focus on Microsoft Azure services (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS). 
- Collaborate with DevOps and development teams to support application modernization, containerization, and deployment pipelines. 
- Implement cloud governance and security best practices, including identity management, access control, and compliance. 
- Monitor and optimize performance, availability, and cost efficiency of cloud environments. 
- Support multi-cloud initiatives, integrating Azure with AWS, GCP, and other platforms as needed. 
- Troubleshoot and resolve cloud infrastructure issues, providing escalation support when required. 
- Document architectures, policies, and procedures for operational excellence and knowledge sharing. 
Qualifications
- 3–5+ years of experience as a Cloud Engineer, Systems Engineer, or related role. 
- Strong hands-on expertise with Microsoft Azure services (Azure AD, Azure Networking, Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), Storage, Virtual Machines, App Services, Functions, etc.). 
- Familiarity with hybrid and multi-cloud environments (AWS, GCP, VMware, etc.). 
- Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, ARM templates, Bicep, or similar). 
- Solid background in networking, security, and identity management in the cloud. 
- Scripting/automation experience (PowerShell, Python, Bash). 
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, Jenkins, or equivalent). 
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. 
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently in a remote environment. 
Preferred Skills
- Certifications such as Azure Administrator Associate, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, or Azure DevOps Engineer Expert. 
- Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes, Helm). 
- Exposure to cloud cost optimization tools and practices. 
- Familiarity with security frameworks (NIST, ISO 27001, CIS benchmarks, HIPAA, etc.).
