Overview:

MetroSys is seeking an experienced Virtualization Consultant to support a project focused on migrating virtual workloads from VMware to Microsoft Hyper-V. This is a contract-based role requiring a hands-on technical expert with proven experience planning and executing large-scale virtualization platform transitions. The consultant will work closely with infrastructure and operations teams to ensure a smooth and efficient migration.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess existing VMware infrastructure and develop a detailed migration strategy to Hyper-V.

  • Perform analysis of virtual machine dependencies, storage configurations, and networking requirements.

  • Configure and deploy Hyper-V hosts, clusters, and associated virtual networks.

  • Execute the migration of VMs with minimal downtime, using tools such as System Center VMM or 3rd-party solutions.

  • Test post-migration workloads for performance and compatibility, and provide troubleshooting as needed.

  • Document processes, configurations, and provide knowledge transfer to internal IT staff.


Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience with VMware (vSphere/ESXi) and Microsoft Hyper-V environments.

  • Strong experience with VM migration tools and methodologies (e.g., Veeam, MVMC, SCVMM).

  • Solid understanding of networking, storage, and Active Directory integration in virtual environments.

  • Ability to work independently, manage timelines, and communicate effectively with stakeholders.

  • Microsoft or VMware certifications (e.g., VCP, MCSA/MCSE) preferred.
