We’re looking for a versatile Data Scientist / Applied ML Engineer to join our R&D team at Influ2.
This role bridges hands-on ML experimentation and R&D exploration. You’ll play a key part in discovering and validating new ideas - from defining abstract problems and exploring modeling opportunities to building working prototypes.
You’ll thrive in this role if you enjoy solving open-ended challenges, working hands-on with data and models, and having the freedom to turn ideas into impactful solutions using the latest advancements in data science, machine learning, and LLMs.
What you’ll do:
- Understand product opportunities: Gain a deep understanding of product goals and user needs to identify where data-driven solutions can deliver the most value.
- Lead research initiatives end-to-end: define hypotheses, design experiments, analyze results, and propose scalable solutions.
- Prototype solutions: Apply techniques like classification, clustering, similarity modeling, topic detection, and LLM-based methods.
- Integrate and evaluate models: Prototype ML-driven solutions tailored to real-world business needs and assess the performance of LLM models for practical integration.
- Work hands-on with tools: Use open-source ML tools and locally deployed models to test and iterate on ideas quickly.
- Operate independently: Take initiative and operate autonomously in a fast-paced, experimental environment.
- Collaborate cross-functionally: Communicate findings and proposed solutions clearly across R&D, Product, and Development teams.
Experience:
- You bring 2+ years of experience in applied ML or data science roles.
- You have solid Python skills and experience working with libraries like pandas, scikit-learn, and matplotlib (Keras is a plus).
- You’re confident designing and running experiments to test hypotheses, validate results, and automate processes at scale.
- You have hands-on experience applying ML to real business use cases.
- Good knowledge of statistics, modeling, and machine learning fundamentals.
- Experience working with MySQL or other relational databases (SELECT-level queries).
- You’re comfortable with ambiguity and can scope problems with minimal direction.
- You communicate analytical findings and solution ideas clearly across teams.
- Proactive mindset, strong problem-solving skills, and natural curiosity.
- English: Upper-Intermediate or higher.
Skills:
- Upper-intermediate English is essential.
- Time management: You know how to optimize task prioritization and meet project deadlines efficiently while maintaining excellent quality of your work in a remote setting.
- Problem-solving skills and attention to detail: You have a keen eye for identifying issues and resolving them with precision. Your ability to think critically and thoroughly ensures that no detail is overlooked, leading to effective solutions and high-quality results.
- Continuous learning mindset: To excel in this role, it’s vital to demonstrate a readiness to acquire and adjust to emerging technologies, industry shifts, and evolving customer requirements.
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment: You excel at managing tasks on your own while also contributing effectively in team settings.
- Initiative: You demonstrate a proactive mindset by identifying opportunities to improve data quality, optimize models, and suggest solutions to enhance analysis workflows or experimentation processes.
