We’re looking for an experienced Data Scientist to join our Rentals team, which powers Bolt’s micromobility and car-sharing (Bolt Drive) products. This team builds smart, data-driven systems that improve how our vehicles are priced, positioned, and maintained across cities.

You’ll work closely with Bolt’s micromobility and car-sharing teams to build models that directly influence how our services operate across cities. The Rentals Data Science team solves a variety of challenges — from forecasting marketplace demand to support pricing decisions, to dynamically adjusting prices based on real-time conditions. You’ll also contribute to optimising how we deploy, rebalance, and charge our vehicles, ensuring the right vehicles are in the right places at the right times. Additionally, the role involves working with telemetry and vision data from our vehicles to enhance safety and performance. This is a highly impactful role where you’ll take machine learning solutions from prototype to production and see your work improve the experience of millions of users.
Own the development lifecycle for ML solutions – from notebook prototypes to deployment and automation. Collaborate with analysts, engineers, product managers, and operations specialists. Deploy models using our ML platform, working with a toolkit including Python, Spark, Docker, Airflow. Solve real world problems such as: marketplace forecasting; optimising fleet operations; building the next generation of smart vehicles with computer vision. Validate your solutions’ impact via experiments.
Industry experience in Machine Learning (3+ years recommended), ideally in product development within a technology-focused company. Proficient in Python, writing complex queries in SQL or PySpark, training classical ML models, and ideally some experience with a deep learning framework like PyTorch. Adaptable, willing to work on a variety of tasks (we’re a small team, so we have to wear multiple hats). Proactive, able to work with minimal supervision. Hands-on experience building ML systems end-to-end – including testing, monitoring, scaling, and measuring impact through hypothesis testing.
