About the Role
We are looking for an exceptional Director of Engineering to lead and scale the next generation of B2B and B2C travel tech platforms. This is a hands-on leadership role where you will drive architecture, innovation, and engineering excellence.
As a key technology partner, you will be responsible for modernizing and expanding our systems, including Online Booking Engines (OBEs), eCommerce platforms, CRM systems, and supplier repositories. Key Responsibilities
- Technology Strategy & Architecture: Define and implement the technical roadmap, ensuring scalability, security, and performance.
- Engineering Leadership: Build, mentor, and lead a high-performance engineering team, fostering innovation and collaboration.
- Hands-On Development & Solutions Design: Architect, develop, and optimize booking engines, CRM systems, eCommerce platforms, and other travel-related solutions.
- System Modernization: Overhaul legacy systems and drive the transition to modern architectures.
- Agile & DevOps Execution: Implement best practices in CI/CD, automation, monitoring, and observability.
- Cross-Team Collaboration: Work closely with product managers, designers, and business leaders to align technology with company goals.
- Scalability & Performance Optimization: Ensure high availability, fast API performance, and system stability.
- Security & Compliance: Oversee PCI compliance, secure API development, and cloud infrastructure best practices.
What You Bring
Core Qualifications:
✅ 8+ years of experience in software engineering & architecture, with 4+ years in a leadership role.
✅ Strong background in travel technology, especially in Online Booking Engines (OBEs), travel eCommerce, and group booking systems.
✅ Expertise in Laravel (PHP), React (Next.js), AWS (Lambda, API Gateway, SNS, SQS, ECS, RDS, S3, Elasticache).
✅ Experience leading engineering teams, hiring developers, and scaling organizations.
✅ Deep understanding of cloud architecture, microservices, and API-first development.
✅ Proficiency in CI/CD, DevOps, automation, and observability tools (Datadog, CloudWatch).
Bonus Points For:
⭐ Prior experience in SaaS, startups, or travel tech (booking engines, itinerary builders, tour operator platforms).
⭐ Knowledge of Machine Learning (ML), AI, LLMs, blockchain.
⭐ Experience with Plasmic CMS, Laravel Livewire, GraphQL, advanced caching techniques.
⭐ SEO, Core Web Vitals, and front-end performance optimization expertise.
