Greenhouse is looking for a Director of Legal, EMEA to join our team!

As we continue to expand in the EMEA region, we are looking for an experienced, proactive, and strategic legal professional to lead commercial, privacy, and employment legal matters. In this role, you’ll work closely with the Sales and People teams, supporting revenue growth, negotiating complex contracts, and ensuring compliance across multiple jurisdictions. You’ll also act as the go-to legal advisor on privacy (GDPR, EU AI Act) and employment-related issues, providing practical guidance to business leaders. This is an exciting opportunity to build and shape the legal function in EMEA, driving impact in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.

Who will love this job

  • A doer – you thrive on diving into complex contracts, solving problems, and delivering results.
  • A strategic thinker – you balance legal risks with business goals, keeping the bigger picture in mind.
  • A trusted advisor – you build strong relationships and act as a key business partner to Sales, HR, and Leadership.
  • A problem-solver – you take initiative, proactively identify risks and develop scalable solutions.
  • A builder – you’re excited about creating processes, training teams, and leading change in a growing company.

What you’ll do

  • Negotiate and draft high-value enterprise SaaS contracts (MSAs, DPAs, SLAs) for customers across the EMEA region.
  • Act as a trusted legal advisor to Sales leadership, supporting complex, multi-national enterprise deals.
  • Provide privacy and regulatory guidance, ensuring compliance with GDPR, the EU AI Act, and other EMEA data protection laws.
  • Support HR and management with employee-related legal matters, including performance management, leave policies, and employee relations.
  • Develop and improve contract review processes, streamlining deal execution and reducing bottlenecks.
  • Create and implement policies and training programs to ensure compliance and operational efficiency.
  • Stay ahead of regulatory changes and proactively advise internal teams on their potential impact.

You should have

  • Extensive experience in SaaS commercial contracting, including negotiating and drafting MSAs, DPAs, and complex sales agreements.
  • Deep expertise in EMEA privacy laws, particularly GDPR and the evolving EU AI Act.
  • Proven experience working with Sales leadership and cross-functional teams, providing legal guidance on enterprise deals.
  • Experience advising on EMEA employment law matters (HR policies, employee relations, performance management) is preferred.
  • A highly organized, proactive approach, capable of managing multiple negotiations and legal issues simultaneously.
  • A pragmatic, business-oriented mindset, balancing risk while supporting company growth.
  • A law degree from an accredited institution and the ability to work across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Experience in a high-growth SaaS company.

Applicants will be required to provide evidence of their right to work in Ireland as part of the application process and it is pre-condition to any offer of employment.  Greenhouse is not in a position to support employment permit applications for candidates for this role.
