Why it matters: We’re looking for a Director of Talent Acquisition to lead and elevate our recruiting function. This person will own the full talent acquisition strategy, managing a small but mighty team of recruiters and driving a high-performing, tech-enabled hiring process that brings the best talent into every role.
Go deeper: This role will report to the SVP, People and will manage a team of three recruiters. Responsibilities include:
- Lead the Talent Acquisition Function: Own and continuously improve our end-to-end recruiting process across all departments, ensuring a consistent, inclusive, and efficient experience for candidates and hiring managers. Lead our interview training program with regular refreshes as needed.
- Manage and Develop a Team: Coach and support a team of 3 recruiters, helping them grow and deliver exceptional hiring results.
- Be a Strategic Partner: Build strong relationships with business leaders to deeply understand their hiring needs, workforce plans, and team goals. Then turn those insights into effective recruiting strategies.
- Drive Executive Hiring: Personally lead and execute searches for senior and executive-level roles, serving as a trusted partner to our leadership team.
- Leverage Data and Technology: Build and maintain hiring dashboards in our ATS (Greenhouse) and other tools, regularly reporting on key metrics such as time-to-fill, pipeline diversity, and candidate satisfaction.
- Innovate with AI and Automation: Identify and implement smart, ethical uses of AI to improve sourcing, screening, and hiring processes.
- Promote Our Employer Brand: Collaborate with internal partners to amplify Axios’s brand and attract top talent across a variety of industries and functions.
The details: Ideal candidates will demonstrate most of the following:
- 8+ years of experience in recruiting, with at least 3 years managing a team.
- Passion for and experience in people management and mentorship: desire to motivate, support and lead a team of exceptional people
- Proven success hiring across a range of functions, including editorial, tech, product, sales, and corporate roles
- Experience running executive-level searches in-house or via retained search
- Strong command of recruiting tools and a passion for using data to drive decisions. Experience using Greenhouse is a plus.
- Curiosity and comfort experimenting with new technologies, including AI and automation tools
- Solutions-oriented mindset and proactive attitude
Starting salary for this role is in the range of $133,000 - $175,000 and is dependent on numerous factors, including but not limited to location, work experience, and skills. This range does not include other compensation and benefits. Axios’ compensation philosophy takes into account cost of labor differentials across the country. Because this is a remote-optional job posting, this salary range takes into account all possible locations within the United States, but candidates will only be eligible for the salary range for their location.
